Israel disgusts me.

Israel has lost its moral conscience. It has been a gradual process - one cannot realistically see what is happening today occurring during the eras of Ben Gurion and Golda Meir.

This descent into brutality started with Sharon and has gathered steam with Netanyahu.

It is really disgusting and what makes it even more so is that there are Jews who are actually defending this massacre that is occurring.

The MSM in the US does not help ....... imagine the outrage that would result if the scenes we are seeing with Palestinian children were occurring with Jewish children as the victims. There would be calls for immediate intervention of the US to stop the atrocities.

Yes, I don't understand the media bias. CNN needs to present a more balanced view or they will find themselves held accountable for being on the immoral side of this debate. It will hurt their credibility the way that Fox News has become a punchline.

What does that have to do with the IDF slaughtering civilians?

Just Israel? If you are so concerned about the killing of innocent children, there are also other wars going on right now as well.

What about what is going on in Iraq?

+1. And what about Africa? Where is the outrage for all these atrocities? Guess they're not as important as the hatred for Israel.

Can you please point out the threads that you started on those topics? I want to make sure that you are also concerned about those other conflicts.

Well, you obviously already know that I have not posted anything. I am just curious where the outrage for all the other atrocities going on is. That's all. Is that okay to ask?

Yes, it's okay for you to ask. Is it okay for me to ask as well? But, I have posted about Africa, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. I am disappointed that you haven't shared my outrage about events there.

Israel is worst. Why the US supports a terrorist state like Israel is beyond all logic.

Israel has lost its damn mind.

No they are just expressing their mind. Israelis is made up of self selected radicals. You do not move to Israel b/c you think it will be fun, you move there to join the Jewish fight. It like a bunch of tea partiers deciding to forming a country in Texas. You will get the most most radical of the radicals, willing to kill.

That's not entirely true. Some of moved for economic reasons or due to prejudice in their original country.

Jeff - I've disagreed with a lot of what you've said on various threads, but I've always recognized that you are well informed and do your research. But not on this one. Your statement is very ill-informed. There are lots (and lots) of reasons why people have been moving to Israel for close to 70 years. To phrase it the way you have makes it sound like it's a either a matter of convenience or because they want to join some religious war. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are plenty of peace-loving Jews who moved to Israel for a lot of reasons that aren't economic, related to prejudice or because they hate palestinians. Comments like yours do a disservice to those people who are a voice of reason that needs to be heard.

I think Jeff used the word "Some" which means an unspecified number or amount of people or things and is different from "All" which refers to the whole quantity or extent of a particular group or thing.

Where the hell did I say anyone moved because they hated Palestinians? Jesus Christ. It's a wonder I have any reason left with which to be reasonable when I am held accountable for things I didn't say and don't even believe. Here is a fact: the largest recent influx to Israel came from former Soviet countries. Most of those individuals were barely religious. They came because their home countries were collapsing and Jews weren't treated particularly good in the best of times, let alone bad times. Moreover, I never said my list of reasons was all-inclusive. I was correctly someone who suggested only hardcore "super Jews" moved to Israel. That simply is not the case. Of course their are additional reasons.

A. I never said that you were the one who said it was about hatred of palestinians / religious war, that was from the earlier post, so you were not being held accountable.
B. That's the most recent influx. But there are many, many, people who have been moving to Israel for a long time for a lot of non-religious reasons. Frankly, I'd argue that the black hats and the ultra-religious wingnuts who like to roam around the occupied territories with their legions of children, ruined a damn good thing for the secular zionists (yeah I said it, zionists!) who moved to israel in the 50's, 60's and 70's.
C. You may not have said it wasn't all-inclusive, but it could be read that way. Ordinarily I don't parse words to this extent, but this is an extremely touchy subject and we all need to be careful about what we say and how we say it.

I should add, to bring a bit of levity to the discussion, the Gilda Radner Soviet Jewry / Soviet Jewelry bit on Weekend Update on SNL is a classic.
