Israel disgusts me.

You can go f--- yourself. Yes -- Hamas brought a lot of this on themselves over the years. So Israel -- a developed nation with billions in US funding -- can't figure out a way to do targeted strikes on Hamas? Instead they need to "defend" themselves against hundreds of CHILDREN who are hiding in a UN run school?? And they need to continue such "defense" for weeks at a time? Again -- go f--- yourself.

What about what is going on in Iraq?

+1. And what about Africa? Where is the outrage for all these atrocities? Guess they're not as important as the hatred for Israel.

Can you please point out the threads that you started on those topics? I want to make sure that you are also concerned about those other conflicts.
IC'mon now. I don't have to start a thread to have an opinion. But I will tell you that I have started similar threads outside of DCUM. The type of debate has been somewhat different in those venues. Not better than DCUM, just different tone. And for what it's worth, I have put my money where my mouth is out on the front lines where it counts from my days in college (eons ago) to now.

So, your retort, while certainly your privilege and right, has no punch. I know where I've been and who I am.

Israel is going to pay the ultimate price. It has not even begun to hit the fan for them yet. The damage they are doing to themselves and "their people" sadly is now irreversible in the eyes of the world. The loathing has been taken to a new height.

Clearly you have never been in battle or been in targeting. In a real-time battle, there are errors --- wind, etc. You know which direction the attack came from. You set up to fire back, and you might might....or you might hit. I am not sure what the circular error probability is on the artillery.

Now, the enemy (we are in a battle situation....which is dehumanizing) fires from a residential area, near a shelter. I fire back...I am aiming for the who shot, but there is enough uncertainty...

My enemy knows this. So he fires from next to a shelter. He assumes that I will either not fire back, as the shelter is a buffer from me. If I fire back, and mis the target, and hit the shelter, I look bad. Or I don't fire back. Win-Win for the enemy.

I am so NOT a fan of Israel. But I'm worried you are right. Anti-Semitic acts have skyrocketed in Europe.

Judging from some of the resolutions in the US Congress in support of giving Israel more weapons of destruction, anti-child acts have skyrocketed in the United States. Quite frankly, the latter worries me more right now.

My understanding is that the funding for Israel is about increasing and improving their Iron Dome. Would you be happier if they did not have this and if Israeli deaths were equivalent to Palestinian deaths?

I do not support giving more of my money right now to Israel, period. I would rather have it go to humanitarian aid in Gaza.

I would not be happier if there were more Israeli deaths. I would be happier had Israel murdered fewer people in Gaza and if Israeli leaders were apprehended, tried in international courts, and given life terms for war crimes.

Israel is able to continue its killing b/c there is no cost to Israel. If Israel faced opposition that was able to inflict the same level of damage as israel, Israel would not be as quick to strike. So the Iron Dome is an enabler of Israel actions and policies. It will not alway be, technology changes quickly.

It seems like, even when the US criticizes Israel, it does so in the most obsequious, subservient matter possible.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jul/31/gaza-conflict-us-israeli-attack-un-school

It lends itself to conjecture that we only criticize Israel when Israel tells us it's accomplished most of its military goals and it's OK for us to say something that the rest of the world has already said much earlier. What does Israel do for us that would cause our Government to tiptoe around telling a country that gets so much of our money that it really shouldn't be wiping out civilian populations?!?!
