Travel Soccer teams around NOVA let's discuss

"So maybe ODSL will get some teams to face Dynamite and Cougars?"

That would be great to see better competition there but it seems unlikely. Hope the league is able to attract more and better teams but clubs just want to dump everyone into ncsl. Some of those teams would be competitive in 2nd/3rd division of Odsl but instead jam up the age groups with some low quality teams in ncsl just to say they belong to ncsl.

There are just too many leagues around here and placing teams in Odsl appears to be a last resort kind of thing.

A few comments about excessive driving for elite teams got me to wondering, what are some of the more insane stories you've heard about parents driving kids to far-away clubs? I know there are some NOVA kids who play for Bethesda (not South) and they tackle the American Legion Bridge at rush hour several times a week. I've also heard that the DAs have some kids from far away.

We are lucky to have so many viable options in this area. For some of the elite programs in Pennsylvania, families regularly drive from over an hour away for training.

Spending an hour one way is one thing, doing it to cover 15 miles is what is soul crushing.

Sure, Baltimore's out for NOVA kids, but maybe not for Montgomery County or Columbia kids.

In what sense is Bethesda not full DA?

I stand corrected. Thanks

wow that would be mindblowing for girls teams if so. finally say goodbye to ccl as an alleged premier league if loudoun's A players instead funneled into a club based girls da.
arl. would need to get WS to put their da in arlington for its A players. loudoun a big winner

But it's never going to happen. IF FCV merges (takes over) another club it will be another small one looking for some respectability, like Ashburn before it. Loudoun doesn't need anything FCV has to offer (which was it's ECNL badge before and now the DA badge, and a claim to top coaches). Loudoun's coaches are as good or better than FCV's (who seem to specialize in recruiting more than coaching), Loudoun already has a name, they have boys DA and an affiliation with Spirit on the girls side, and if FCV is really leaving ECNL, then Loudoun could make a great case for taking over as the ECNL club in the western suburbs, even with the addition of BRYC.

I tend to agree. If Loudoun really wanted DA they would have it. There is no reason Loudoun would not have been granted GDA.
