Those giant flower headbands on infants are hideous

I have a masters degree, grew up in Georgetown and must say these headbands are white trash.

Do these silly, uncomfortable looking, head bands have to do with determining gender for strangers because I only see them on girls. Just put them in pink or a sticker that says, "I'm a girl."

Exactly. The thing that annoys me about these headbands is that I feel that parents are insecure about people asking if their baby girl is a boy. Thus the headbands. I see a lot of baby girls with no hair wearing these headbands (whether flowery or just a plain band), because they probably get mistaken for boys. I don't see why parents get so worked up about it. My daughter wore a red onsie with overalls once, and people thought she was a boy. I didn't take offense... I just nicely corrected them. I just never felt the need to stick a headband on her head to let the world know she's a girl. But then again, some parents do it because they think it looks cute... so more power to em.

But that's just my opinion of it. I have friends who put headbands on their baby girls... and it's whatever. Not anything to get worked up about.

I think it depends on the headband. Just like with every other article of clothing, the style of the piece itself lends to whether or not it is ugly. I have seen ugly dresses, but would not say all dresses are ugly. Some of the headbands (particularly any with animal prints) are ugly. Some are more tasteful.

Wow, these are seriously WT. I would bet anything the poster that defended them does not live in DC!

I always feel bad for little babies whose parents dress them up in uncomfortable looking clothes and accessories. It is bizarre to make them look like little adults. Just put them in something soft and comfortable that's easy for changing diapers. Sheesh.

I can't stand headbands, hair bows, or anything too girly.

Alert the masses, dcum decree: burlap sacks for all babies. Lord knows it's "wt" to dress them up at all. (Is no one else offended by the use of such racist, classist terminology? Oh yeah it's dcum )

I was a NP and didn't say anything about WT or burlap sacks. I said I think it's bizarre to dress babies in uncomfortable clothes in order to satisfy parental ideas of fashion. You are overreacting to the posts of other people and putting words into my mouth; oh, wait, it's dcum. People do that all the time.
