LOL, they are leaving ECNL. It's been confirmed. They applied to MLS and GA already.

why would you leave to go to a league where most kids will still not get recruited. Boys recruiting just gets worse every year.

Nice story. They have a competitive boys program and they have a long waiting list of players to join every age group. Wouldn’t make sense.

Is key for boys so it will help GA grow. ECNL girls getting a greater share of D1 scholarships is about the players in ECNL not the level of coaching. As that paradigm continues to shift, ECNL will have to make some hard choices or disband altogether in 5-10 years. My guess is ECNL combines into MLS next/GA and the process starts over until the next person at the top gets pissed and starts their own league. Arlington is not leaving ECNL. No one in their right mind is. That is the issue. The boy's side is a problem but you don't trade away the top on the girl's side for the boy's side top and a hope that maybe someday GA makes it.

I do not think there are many hard choices to make. I agree that the answer is a combination of ECNL and MLS Next. That will not involve GA though.


Arlington boys do not need MLS Next. They do very well in ECNL- 2007/2009 as an example. They will not be leaving ECNL- they are good on both the girls and boys side.
