Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Anonymous
Anonymous wrote:FCPS has updated its dashboard to reflect student transfers this year. Hayfield #s indicate 259 pupil placements into the school this year, including 199 from Mount Vernon and 32 from Edison. In essence, almost 10% of the students zoned for Mount Vernon are at Hayfield instead.

The Mount Vernon HS zoned students can transfer to Hayfield by opting out of IB and selecting AP instead. These aren’t just students from Whitman MS (which feeds in MVHS), but students who attended local K-8 parochial schools. It has nothing to do with sports but academics.

No one can find their financials because it was never a legit 501c3. They have never filed a 990, something an actual nonprofit with revenues over $200,000 has to file annually. Those that have revenue below $200K still have to file something that would be public record, be it a 990EZ or a short form return. These don't exist for Overton's 990. They also aren't on ProPublica, Guidestar, Charity Navigator or any other public database of registered nonprofits. To my knowledge, they don't even have an EIN, which is something required for a legit business to have. This was brought up earlier in the week. It is another one of the shams that Overton is running. VA actually pulled all of Overton's business licenses in 2022 or 2023, I cannot remember which, and yet he is still operating PME. It is a shame the Commonwealth hasn't filed charges.

While coaches and parents all across the county advocated for forfeiting, the Edison team took the field to contest their playoff berth on the gridiron....and not a courtroom or strong-armed bureaucratic office.

Edison just scored first and walked to the buses leaving as winners

The Edison kids are truly the real winners. It's amazing how this SB and Reid sent them into this knowing it would be a slaughter. If only Edison had hired Overton instead and he had brought them all those players.

Disagree. This is an unfair situation for the adults to put them into. Hopefully no one gets injured.

OK yeah, I forgot about that aspect. A team stacked with big, huge recruited players when most teams only have 1 or 2 big kids. Reid, did you think about this? The optics look bad for Reid no matter what happens here. I think she's not going to last.

The Hayfield players are not big, huge, monsters. In fact, they are quite average. You all have made them into something nefarious, fearful, and detestable.

These so called adults talking about cheating sure have no problem lying. My daughter is an Edison soccer player and she has friends at Hayfield so while we support Edison we don't hate Hayfield. The lies on here are crazy. The football players are not large at all.

My son is a Lake Braddock Football player and has no hate against "new" Hayfield players. To be honest, lots of the kids in the Football team follow the new Hayfield players on social media since the summer.
My son says they are very good. Not huge at all, but very talented and athletic.

People here are really blowing things out of proportion and many don't even have kids in the Football program. LOL.

The unfortunate truth is that most of the hate is based on color.

That is not true...so stop trying to make this a color issue. I'm black and my hate is directed at the disgusting behavior of the adults (FCPS Superintendent, Hayfield Coaches, Hayfield Principal, Hayfield AD, FCPS Lawyer, Fairfax District Court Judge, parents that lied to transfer the kids). It has everything to do with morals. It has to do with what we are supposed to teach our kids (honesty, integrity, follow the rules, be kind to thy neighbor). These people bullied parents and kids, displaced several kids that live in their respective districts, threatened people's jobs if they stand up to the nonsense, and the list goes on. They are cheaters and need to be held accountable. I don't like when people insult my intelligence and Michelle Reid just played in our face. Don't come on here and misrepresent what someone is motivated by. Everyone wants to play the race card when it suits their narrative. Michelle Reid owes an apology to that SoCo coach and if he doesn't get one, I hope he sues her personally for defamation (she can take it out of that $424K salary), because I don't want to use my taxpayer money to fix a wrong that she created. When Hayfield matches up against Private Schools that can legally recruit, they get handled, a.k.a. Riverdale Baptist. If you want to be able to go to the school of your choosing, go to a Private school and pay the money. If you want to legally recruit as a coach, then coach at a Private School. If you want to compete against teams that have equal ability to recruit legally and test your true talent, then go to a Private school. But don't cry poor and act like you are a victim because you're getting called out for breaking the rules. Maybe you'd have some money if you weren't paying Overton for his pay to play league and praising him because he cares about the kids. Here's a little secret...Overton is making money off your kids.

You don’t understand

Yes, the OP absolutely does. It is the Hayfield parents, coaches, defenders etc. who don't understand.

This 100%.

Schools are probably going to be reluctant to touch Overton given what we know has been going on.

No he will get a job in Maryland or at a private school. He may be out for a year but he will get a job. Ignoring all the other garbage, he’s proven to be a successful coach. I mean in Virginia yes he’s probably done but DC MD private schools in need of a coach with a proven track record, yea he’ll get a job.

I don’t know anything other than all this and he won some titles at freedom and he and Jason Eldridge (former WSHS coach) got into when Overton was there and Eldridge was there. But people generally have short term memory when it comes to things so like I said maybe he’s off the sideline for a year maybe two max but he’ll get a job pretty quick after that.

I know people don’t want to hear that but just be honest with yourself and you know it’s true.

No WCAC, IAC, MIAA etc... school will touch this guy. They have administrations that have standards and frankly he hasn't demonstrated himself to be a good coach. He has demonstrated himself to be a good recruiter who struggles against good competition. Maybe one of the sham "Christian" schools in MD, like a Riverdale Baptist (but not actually RB) would take a flyer on him.

The Overton boosters? Agreed. They've turned a blind eye to the criminal actions of Overton and defended cheating every step of the way. They are as MAGA as it comes.

Agree! The cheaters who refuse to follow the rules remind me so much of crazy trump
traitors.

Like the Dems in Pennsylvania trying to use illegal ballots to steal the senate election?
You mean like that?

Take your meds grandpa...

Post on page 21, 10/15 at 17:15 had EIN but to your point, NO site anywhere had financials. Seems ripe for an audit.

Apologies...I am late to the game on this one. Who is this woman and what is her connection to the Freefield mess? Just a quick scan of her Insta makes her appear to be a parent of a kid who broke the rules when he transferred into Freefield and she also appears to be an unhinged wannabe Tony Robbins. Did I get this right or am I missing something?

In addition to the lack of legitimate 501(c)(3) status:

In the latest session of the Virginia state legislature, state Delegate Candi King (D-Woodbridge) submitted an amendment to dole out $100,000 to Playmakers Elite Athletic Training over a two-year period from the state’s general fund. The amendment noted that the money was “to support” Playmakers Elite Athletic Training. The amendment described the organization as a “youth sports fitness and training organization for boys and girls ages five to eighteen.” A staffer said the amendment didn’t make it out of the House Appropriations Committee.

according to the State Corporation Commission, a state agency with regulatory authority over businesses in Virginia, Playmakers Elite Athletic Training’s “entity status” is “Inactive,” and its legal status is “Automatically Terminated” for not filing its annual report in 2023. The latest filing is recorded in 2022.

She doesn't have kids on the team.
She's a groupie.
She posted calling herself one of the team coaches and "chaplain"
She runs a church/grift in Fredericksburg that she is a "pastor" of
She posted a sideline video making fun of Chantilly'a team after the game
Had another post where she said something like she is called to bring Jesus to public school teams
She has deleted some of her crazier posts

So I sort of got the "unhinged wannabe Tony Robbins" part right (maybe more of an "unhinged wannabe Joel Osteen" as I am getting the impression now she is a wannabe religious grifter) . Thanks for clearing the rest up for me. Sounds sort of typical for someone who would be in Overton's orbit. His universe of supporters and Trump's universe of supporters, while having very different resumes, have the very same theme of crazy, ignorant, unhinged, grifters.

Langley HS needs to hire this guy immediately so that the school can get its fair share of transferred kids not living in the Langley pyramid.
