Yes. It's all for show. Just like the surveys they love to send out so it looks like they care about what people think. |
I think our county leaders have really.underestimated what this scandal is doing to MCPS's reputation. For those of us who are relative outsiders, planning on sending our kids to public school in the next few years, this is devastating. Our community loves our local ES and I am sure it is very well run, but the behavior of central office with respect to Biedleman gives me zero confidence that serious problems, should they arise, would be properly addressed. Maybe this scandal will be the catalyst for change, but I will believe it when I see it. |
Exactly. Like the community meetings they love to hold which mean nothing to them. |
Update: Email sent out to staff from McKnight about Beidleman report, staffing changes, action plan and support.

Do you see the people that they are bringing out of retirement!?! This is the best that they could do? The first two were long overdue for retirement when they called it quits back in 2018. A lot has happened in MCPS since they retired. How can they possibly jump back in next week ready to hit the ground running? What a disaster. |
Yep, problem solved. Nothing else to see here. Let's all be grateful for our diligent MCPS leaders for working overtime to rectify their internal issues. |
Well, damn. That didn't age well! |
Yeah…I mean bringing a bunch of people out of retirement doesn’t make me excited as what I’m looking for is fresh blood and new perspectives, but ok. |
If you read their redacted report, the state inspector emailed twice on 6/28 and 6/30, and MCPS just brushed it off. Only after the Washington Post made MPIA requests did MCPS start to take it seriously. Page 11: July 18, 2023 [] is informed by a friend that the Washington Post is writing a story on []. Page 27: By July 18, 2023, [] became aware that the Washington Post made an MPIA request for [] personnel file and was requesting to talk to witnesses about [] engaging in []. As a result, [] requested that [] determine specifically what the Washington Post was inquiring about. MCPS is not afraid of the state inspector. Had the Washington Post not gotten involved, nothing would have been done. |
It’s dawning on me that MCPS is staffed with stupid people who cannot conceive that other people are not as stupid as they are. |
+1 million Such a corrupt and incompetent school system. Run by idiots. This county is a disaster. |
I have been an MCPS parent for over a decade. We will not see change - I am certain of that. We thought we might see change after the Damascus and Rockville sexual assault/tape cases. We thought we might see changes after multiple individuals were accused of sexual assault. MCPS is a mess. It is disheartening and disappointing and our kids are suffering due to all of this. |
Yep. This is what we voted for. Like they say - you really do get what you vote for. The BOE has had a political agenda for years. And they push that agenda at the expense of our kids. |
Thank you for posting. Why isn’t this in the Thursday things we need to know? Does she think only staff should be told how to report things or the fact that she’s bringing in a raft of retirees to help keep her ship afloat? Did her expensive crisis comms tell her to keep this from parents and students? Who is paying these folks? Are we taxpayers also still paying for everyone on leave, including Beidleman himself? Most of the people on leave were the highest paid employees in the school system. Transparency, huh? |
You are thinking way too critically for MCPS’s liking. Watch it! Also, that “Things to Know” really does need to be renamed. It’s painfully obvious that email blast does not contain much of what we need to know. |
