Ok, thanks for the clarification!!

Wow--this thread has over 18 THOUSAND views!! Is this a DCUM record? |
Beauvoir thread has over 90,000 views. |
Old news seems to be fair game if it is Landon "old news." By going far into the past--when was the cheating scandal--2003?--to find incidents, one can purport to find a pattern. Old news from other schools? Hey--that's just old news!!! |
Has it been established for a fact that none of the girls were in on this? Because girls themselves have participated in this sort of thing. I have children of both sexes in several single sex schools and i know this has happened, and I suspect others reading this know I am right although none of us wants to "out" the girls school involved. Hardly an excuse for the boys--they are bigger and stronger and so there is always the potential for disrepect for young women turning into something vicious and ultimately criminal. But if you have girls, it behooves you to remind them to avoid drunkenness and not to send out double messages. If you have a religious orientation, this is easier. |
Right, we godless communists all have drunken sluts for daughters.... |
Um, the last year that prep was in the IAC they lost to landon 42-0 in football; Georgetown Prep was kicked out of the IAC for recruiting athletes, which is prohibited in the IAC |
Washington Post article on reasons for Georgetown Prep's removal from IAC football: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A62133-2004Dec13.html |
Just said it was easier, that's all--you have an Authority bigger than yourself to refer to. Obviously it is possible to instill moral behavior in kids without resorting to religion. In theory. I personally have found religion helpful here. |
Today's Post (June 21) had an article about how creepy young men have been using the cell phone texting option to stalk and ultimately harm young women. The Post did not mention if these texters are Landon graduates. I am suspicious. Was the Post trying to hide this fact? |
LOL, PP! |
No, but there are more articles to come... |
Indeed. And no doubt a link to dread Landon will be found- |
To claim this story has legs only because it happened at a "white, privledged, prep school," and the story at the public high school in Bowie did not get equal attention, is really missing the proverbial boat, PP. I mean really... The Landon story is getting tons of press because its a very expensive, highly admission competitive, (e.g. lots of applicants do not get in) school in the city (i.e. higher population density) with some "higherish profile" families who are alums or currently enrolled. It is a custom made stage for such rabid voyuerism. A perfect Hollywood script for John Hughes as a matter of fact. Bowie High School, a normal public school in a normal suburb that anyone who lives in boundary can attend, *yawn* not so much. Skin color really has nothing to do with it. How do you know that none of the Landon boys is AA? or that all are white? Who knew, other than those who live there, that Bowie High is predominantly attended by AA students? and I dont even know that it is other than its what you seem to be suggesting. I for one do not automatically associate PG county with any race color or creed, just think its out there in the suburbs. And, suburban high schools.... there I go yawning again... ![]() |
You're being naive pp. Of course, everyone in the Greater DC area knows that PG county is largely AA. You'd have to live under a rock not to know that.
Actually, an AA mana wrote a really interesting story for the Wash. Examiner saying he thought the white boys were being unfairly tarnished by this story because they were privileged and white. I thought that was interesting for him to raise that. |
