We passed on a house on Jefferson St, NW in DC as there had been several murders within a block of it. The house still sold for over $700K within a week.

Seems like folks with lots of money dont care too much about crime if they can buy in the trendy parts of town.
Where exactly is BASIS located?
Good luck!
So apparently there is no upper price on townhouses in Petworth.

Not the realtor here. Just wondering how high these places will go in value.

Interesting this location has seen a significant up tick in crime including several recent shootings.

How high can these places go?

..
Where will my beard most fit in?
We are looking at Bambini Play and Learn at 900 Massachusetts Ave NW for an Infant.

Can't seem to find much information on them, so was wonder if anyone has any experiences to share.

I thought it was zoned Shepherd-Deal-Coolidge, BUT if you went to Deal you were guaranteed entrance to Wilson. Not sure how that changed, if at all.

I guess DC is a far different world, where $200k salaries are thrown around like candy -- or do we just have a bunch of people subsidized by Mom/Dad or living above their means?

Yes. Right now it's zoned Shepherd-Deal-Coolidge, but as you said attending Deal guarantees entrance to Wilson. After the boundary revisions go through, Shepherd Park/Colonial Village will be zoned Shepherd-Deal-Wilson.

But can you count on nothing being rezoned by the time your kids enter high school?

Even with a $200K salary people will be struggling to buy a $800k house, if you also need childcare, savings and some quality of life.

I'd be surprised if that goes for less than $830. It's TINY, yes, but still.

And that house sold in less than 6 days- so they certainly had multiple offers and got over asking price.

Would be very interested in seeing you house. Would you be able to let me know when it is on the market? Maybe we can find a win-win situation.
We are looking to buy a 3-bedroom place in DC for under $800,000 but really can't find anything at all. Nothing at all west of the park and we are left with small flips in the $700s where we just paying for someone's Mercedes

Any advice on how to find a diamond in the rough?

So she can repeat PS3 or PK4? As in we have her in PS3/PK4 at a 12-31 cut off school, then she can take PS3/PK4 again at a new school with a 9/30 cut off? Do you know this also applies for K or 1 too? Essentially up to the year that birth date doesn't matter.
Anonymous wrote:A school that considers 9/30 to be the deadline is not going to make an exception for your child because she's had a year of PS3 (otherwise they'd get requests from parents in private pre-school, and co-ops, and "pre-school daycare" and who knows what all). You're basically lucky that you get an extra year of PS3. Schools don't start discounting the birthdate as a qualifier until 1st or 2nd grade.

So what grades do schools stop using birth date as qualifier? 1st? 2nd? 3rd? Do they have discretion (ie variable per school) or is there a specific rule for public schools or charters?
