I can't think of a way to put this politely, but I seriously doubt any of the kids had the grades to get into any of the more respected religious schools. One of the kids went there after dropping out of NOVA midway through her first semester because she couldn't keep up with the curriculum.

Yikes. That's pretty close to the Beltway. I didn't realize they were so close.

I though y'all were kind and tolerant folks. Guess not?
I looked at all 3 of those schools, and know people who went to all of them. Liberty doesn't really provide a serious education. It's a fun die school. Wheaton has some great professors( John Walton for example) but the student body is fairly liberal for a Christian college. The academics are strong. Wheaton did the right thing in firing Dr. Hawkins. Christians and Muslims do NOT worship the same God. Grove City is probably the best of the 3 for a conservative Christian. Strong academics and a pretty conservative student body.

Well hopefully Harvard stops sponsoring ethnic clubs( Black Student Union, Hispanic Student Union, Asian Student Union, etc etc)
Desperately trying to push egalitarianism. What a joke.

Headed to St. John's College in Annapolis. Not all that preppy, but I loved the extremely academic feel of the place when I visited. I'll get an excellent classical liberal arts education.

Well done, that's a prestigious college. Do you plan to spend any time in the Santa Fe college? And will you come back and answer questions about St John's generally? I think that could prove to be very helpful to a lot of folks here.

I don't plan to spend any time in Santa Fe.( I'm not much for the extreme heat and rugged terrain of the west) I'm certainly willing to come back and answer questions. Maybe I'll post something about my experience after the first semester.

So yeah if welcomesviewpoints from all over the political spectrum was on my list of criteria, I wouldn't put Trinity at the top of the list.

Kellyanne Conway went to Trinity University in DC, not Trinity College in Connecticut.

OP, I am a Trinity alum and frankly, it leans right politically - not left. Lots of kids of wealthy Republican families.

The kids may or may not lean Right, but regardless, they don't teach the classes. The faculty is overwhelmingly Liberal.
Trinity was pretty high on my list for a while. It has a reputation for being an extremely preppy school, which I like. However, after speaking with some friends in New England and taking a glance at Trinitys student newspaper, I crossed it off my list pretty quickly. It's my understanding that the faculty is extremely liberal. Conservatives are certainly in the minority. What major is your DC interested in?

Which LACs aren't?

St. John's and Hillsdale
I suggest you read this

Just scary. Dr. Murray has spoken at many colleges, and nothing as bad as this has ever happened. I don't know a whole lot about Middlebury, but it certainly doesn't seem like a good place for someone who's not a Leftist.
This question has been asked on this forum a number of times. No one can give you a satisfactory answer on this. You need to decide what you believe. Science cannot answer this question. It's a matter of faith. I personally agree with John Donne on this question.

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
Listening to it right now, and listen to it every Sunday night. Beautiful choral music. It's the best thing on NPR.

Ah, PaleoConPrep. You've been quiet, and the parents out here have missed hearing from you. Any update about your plans?

Headed to St. John's College in Annapolis this fall.

Anonymous wrote:St. Johns Annapolis is not this- not preppy at all.

I would say Williams, Brown, maybe Duke.

Disagree. When I visited St. John's, I saw a lot of guys in coat & tie. I asked a lot of students there where they went to high school, and several attended northeastern private day/boarding schools that use the Harkness method. Most kids are hipsters, but there are a good number of preps at SJC. I'm quite preppy, but I certainly wouldn't call myself a Bohemian.( I don't think you can be a Far-Right Bohemian) At the same time, I'm not really a frat boy either. I despise modern fraternities because of the wreckless/hedonistic behavior of most frat boys. Do I fall into the "alternative" category? BTW, I did not start this thread.
