Hi,
Been looking online for some data on the university admissions of Wilson graduates. Can't find anything. Is there any info on the rate of graduates who go on to 4-year colleges or the universities they go to? Thanks |
They go to great schools. Ivies, top publics, and many great SLACs and HBCUs. Don’t flush your money on private. |
| Everyone says this and no one can post data. I would love for this to be true but can you (PP) please post links? |
| Very few go yo Ivies. |

| Thank you for posting that list, PP. |
| So about 2 out of around 500 went to an Ivy. |

Wilson had an off year last year. Why? Probably due coronavirus...maybe due to the stupidity of Honors for All? Maybe it just went that way. I wouldn't worry too much - a guy did a study for years comparing Wilson to privates and Wilson more then held his own. He tracked Lafayette Elementary school students.
Just Google and searched this site but couldn't find it. Anyone out there know what I'm talking about? Here's thread with some discussion - https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/387903.page The take away from that thread is what hurts Wilson kids is the amount of attention paid to struggling kids and the lack of counselors to motivate and guide the high achieving kids. My advice -with a Sophmore and Junior is to talk to a college counselor during their freshman year. Insane, right? But, they will provided guidance on what your kid needs to do based on their scores/transcripts/goals. It gave me the motivation to fight hard for my kids to be put in the right AP Classes. Or rather the motivation to get my kids to do it - which they do. I figure they will be old pros at working the system by the time to get to college. |
Uhhhh....Kent State is definitely not an HBCU. |
| And Temple is public. I would be worried about the counseling office. |
Agreed. Admissions for the class of 2021 were not great at all. The few Ivys were all legacy. I don't think there were any HYPS admits. The top unhooked academic kids all went to places like Wisconsin--good but not super selective. It was an off year for sure. Time will tell if it's an anomaly or a trend. Walls admissions for 2021 were much better for similar kids. |
Grand Valley I'd put public too |
And why is HYPS the benchmark for you? Are you really that elitist? And I think there are plenty of Wisconsin grads who would beg to differ with your expert assessment. I’m guessing they also had way more fun in college than you did because you must not have had friends. |
| Go take a look at the list of college acceptances at Whitman and report back. |
Grand Valley State is a public college, too. It's in Michigan. And College of San Mateo is a community college in California. |
