Admission =\= matriculation.
The list is helpful but not definitive. I passed on a few ivy admissions for free college (2008 hs grad). 0 regrets. Likely the same reason I chose a strong public for my kids rather than go private. |
Pp, meant to say 2008 college grad lol |
Let’s not get carried away. This is from a PTSO newsletter, presumably using a comprehensive list from Wilson. Some parent volunteer googled and/or made assumptions when categorizing. |
Exactly. All of the assumptions here are wild. |
Er, seems a defensive, PP. |
…crickets… |
I bit. This page https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-magazine/september-october-2020/college-bound-5/ shows acceptances (not matriculations, I know) for multiple (all?) MoCo high schools. A very different ballpark. |
| 9/5 12:28 poster is not correct. Not all Ivy admissions were legacy. |
This article is for 202 graduates. Post is about 2021 graduates. |
Yes, however, I expect the 2020 to 2020 comparison would be similar? Someone suggested above that 2021 was tough for Wilson because of Covid. The Covid experience for MoCo schools was the same as DCPS. |
Seems like a fair assumption. And the Whitman v. Wilson is not even close. Whitman is a completely different league. Sorry. |
|
Whitman grad whose kids are at Wilson. The fact that Wilson is more diverse in all ways and not 95%+ go to 5 year colleges are the main differences. The UMC parent pool and the kids are virtually interchangeable.
Whitman college counselors are also a joke. That’s only a private school thing. Informed and driven parents guide the process with their kids too. |
| Oops 4 year college. Mistype. |
The numbers in the college admissions don’t really support what you’re saying. |
Pretty impressive college list for Whitman. |
