You defend the indefensible. Shame on you.

Honestly he's right though. If you import the third world here the US is going to become more like the third world.

I agree with that. We just came from over 3 week trip and visited couple of countries but one of the 3rd world country did looked like a shithole. But the 2nd one wasn’t bad. I won’t name which countries but it is possible America could become like third world countries in some areas.

Americans need to wake up or could get it what they wish for . You might ask who’s they: the people who wants to keep/bring people from third world countries.

This is the most vile and dumb point ever. Just because a country has a dysfunctional government does not mean that its citizens are dysfunctional.

Get over yourself, America looks like it’s on its way down and soon your children or grandchildren may be from a “shithole” country.

LMAO. Seems like we’d have to offer tax incentives to get the Norwegians to come here.

https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Norway&country2=United+States

The tax rate is much higher in Norway and a much higher cost of living to begin with means it will be harder to stretch your wages even though after tax wages are similar.

In summary:
Consumer Prices in United States are 35.22% lower than in Norway
Consumer Prices Including Rent in United States are 27.61% lower than in Norway
Housing Prices in United States are 45.87% lower than in Norway
Restaurant Prices in United States are 43.53% lower than in Norway
Groceries Prices in United States are 29.94% lower than in Norway
Automobile prices in United States are 38.26% lower than in Norway
Local Purchasing Power in United States is 32.32% higher than in Norway

And yet they don't come.

Maybe there is more to life than owning stuff. Maybe having a big car and a big house and a big tv is not what really makes people happy.

Is the original pp’s comment really true? Can you imagine a leader of a foreign country openly disparaging the Us when Obama was president? We are a bad joke now.

I am honestly ashamed to have this pig as the President of our once-great country.

American greatness was over the day the morons elected the fat Orange Turd. Way to go.

Oh stop being disingenuous.

The president didn't say "there are serious problems in Hait and some African countries." If he had no one would have disagreed with that. Instead, he dismissed them with a vulgarity, and implied their inhabitants are not the sort of people we want in the US. Here's a hint: that's an insult.

How many Americans go ape-shit if people say anything negative about this country. How many times do you hear "leave this country if you don't like it" or "love it or leave it" or "my country right or wrong" -- just because someone dares to critique something about the US that can be improved?

Except that Trump, of course, can imply America's not great rignt now (MAGA) and these same people go wild with applause.

Who helped Haiti to remain a shithole after the earthquake? That's right, Hillary Clinton and her hubby. She collected $500 million dollars dedicated to Haiti disaster recovery through her phony foundation and what people of Haiti received? Next to zilch.
How many houses did she build? Where is the hospital that she promised to build? People of Haiti know very well that she stole from them.
And she has guts to Tweet about the earthquake. Better tell us where is the Haitian money, not-a-racist Hilly? Chelsea's $3 m wedding and XXXX m condo, what else did you buy?

This is all such blatantly false BS

If you truly believe the bolded, you really need to check yourself. First, the Clinton Foundation has among the highest ratings, with a 93+ out of 100: https://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=16680

And then if you really want a comparison, do a search for the Trump Foundation, which NY wouldn't allow Donald to shut down due to multiple investigations.

There is absolutely no truth to the idea that the Clintons personally and directly benefited in any way from Foundation proceeds.

But he does raise an uncomfortable question: We live in a city where the AA unemployment rate is approaching 14% and less than 10% of AA high school students are proficient in reading and math. Against that backdrop, do we have the resources To continue to take high numbers of unskilled and uneducated immigrants?

Immigration has nothing to do with the problems of AA/Black people. White people are the cause of AA and what will Trump possibly do about it?!

Whomever/Whatever you want to name as the cause, we need to pour $$$$$$$$ and resources into helping our inner city and rural kids have better lives.

the only bet jd vance is making is establishing residence to run for future office.

he's a charlatan

Does JD Vance’s wife work in Ohio? I think she’s a doctor.

no - she's an indian-american attorney who is clerking/clerked for roberts.

That was not the point.

He was saying why allow the people from these countries to come here.

You know, like your ancestors did, for a better life. Their country being poor does not make them unworthy.

He also said that he would be ok with Norwegians coming here. Why?

Ok but he is right their hometown is horrible. We are not a charity and why don't they stay in their hometown and work to make it better? Again we are not a charity.

If you could time travel, would you say the same thing to your ancestors who immigrated to the US?

I am first generation and my great grandma worked hard as a single mom in her country to become wealthy. My parents then came to the US LEGALLY not for a better life bc they were rich in their home countries. I am first gen Hispanic american and a trump voter.

So many like you. Ungrateful. You think being patriotic means you get what you think you deserve. My family didn't die for ten generations for you to move here and take a dump on in front of the golden door.

America had always been built by immigrants. Your great grandmother working hard in a different country entitles you to NOTHING, nor should it. But I do suspect that she would be a better American than you will ever be.

Her great grandmother and others like her came here with grateful hearts to be here with all the opportunities that the USA offered. She and the others were not given the educational opportunities, medical care, housing, and second language instruction that immigrants not expect---whether legally or illegally here.

Pick one - you can't have both. There was no welfare state when my Russian Jew ancestors came here. There was barely a k-12 public school system!

And we DEFINITELY want to go back to that period when kids went to work at age 14, the majority of Americans lived in poverty (look it up), average work week was 60 hours. MAGA!

DP. Way to miss the point by a mile.

The point is that when my ancestors (also Russian Jews) came here, when Ellis island welcomed the poor and hungry, they had to support themselves. THAT is why the borders were so open! If half of all immigrants quickly ended up on welfare, with American taxpayers supporting them, you would have seen the borders shut.

So, to reiterate the other PP's point, you can have either a) a wide open immigration policy or b) a generous welfare system in which all needy get food, housing, medical, and other benefits. You cannot have both.
