That was anti-climatic. That was already presented to the DCUM forum. I thought they were going to talk to some pending plaintiffs. Or announce a class action. |
Well that was misleading. The heading made it sound like waitlisted families were currently doing something to fight back. This article just talks about how a shut out family could file a qui tam case. What a let down. |
|
It's like a recruitment ad for plaintiffs.
I wonder if they originally planned for different content but couldn't go forward with it for some reason? |
|
weak sauce! I guess they couldn't get any actual current cap hill parents to go on the record (despite trolling MOTH for comments) and had to rely on a random lawyer spouting hypotheticals worth just about as much as a 1L's opinions ...
btw good luck on collecting all those surely giant payouts from MD parents! I am sure they will more than cover your legal fees ... |
|
This is some pretty good popcorn-munching for those of us in gentrifying neighborhoods who got into the highly-regarded charters.
I wish you all well, but I'm glad I'm not in your shoes (30 kids per class in Janney or #1000 on the WL at YuYing/LAMB). |
Well, it's really much ado about nothing w/r/t the Hill. It's just a matter of making do until you get your seat as-of-right in K at any of the many very solid schools here (Maury, Brent, L-T, Van Ness, JO Wilson ... even Payne is getting increasingly stronger reviews.) We're good! But I'm still jealous of you, don't worry! |
| I think they were waiting for readers of this site to fight back. Instead we just fight with each other. |
So much for my mandamus theory. haha |
I think I'd sit back and laugh. On second thought, I'd show up on Indiana Ave. and applaud from the courthouse steps. |
you want a writ of mandamus to force your school of choice to enroll your child ... ? |
I got into an extremely coveted HRCS and live inbounds for one of the coveted Hill schools. I think this affects me as much as anyone else. Just because we got lucky doesn't mean it's ok for others to cheat the system and take spots for those DC residents who need them. It's also really gross that you think "well I'm set, fuck everyone else. You disgust me. |
Well arguably it's just as disgusting to crow about your "luck" and leave everyone else unlucky in the dust ... what good is my much-vaunted residency if a lottery decides my child's fate? Also ironic that you somehow thing the residency crusader's ultimate ethos is something other than rank individualism ... |
No. I saw some article of a Cali man trying the writ to force the school to enforce its regulations. |
DCUM is so ahead of itself, agreed not as good as other episodes. Wait, you mean this is For Real
|
Right. So you are aware that we are in DC, under DC law, not California, under California law? |
