My kids played SYA rec for several years before they played Valor and we never met or saw a Valor coach "assisting" with their teams. only volunteers. Didn't see any Valor people at all until tryouts. My sister coached a season and the coaching class was run by the head SYA soccer guy, not Valor. (the all star coach was a teenager and he was paid.)

I think you just don't know how to identify these folks. RO who runs SYA also works for valor. He isn't in a valor uniform but typically just a black on black adidas outfit. The all star coaches are valor kids, and the people running the tournaments are all SYA/valor mix. Rec league coaches are not affiliated with valor but the refereeing program is.

Soccer academy which is heavily promoted by valor and SYA (not sure about CYA) has an affiliation to one of the VALOR coaches.

BTW I would not recommend any Soccer academy program. Take your money to SYC if you are in need of a soccer summer camp.

This makes perfect sense, let's drive 45 mins to Springfield for summer camp and an orange shirt.

This is the Rec league mentality. You are in the correct club.

Valor is nothing more than a glorified CYA/SYA rec plus league.

no need to insult the rec coaches and players by equalling them with an organizetion like valor

Stevie Alabi îs FANTASTIC. Huge pick up for Valor, giant loss for GFR. He was instrumental in developing the U9-U12 program at GFR. Lucky for us he is coaching in our child's age group at Valor. Registered for their tryouts today.

It's all glorified rec/ncsl around here. Rec>NCSL>RL is there really much of a difference besides price? Maybe a few pockets of success but generally speaking the quality of soccer isn't changing significantly.

If you have a kid that wants to get better during the summertime soccer Academy is not for you. At some point, you’re gonna have to drive your child a little further to get better training.

If you are just looking for a daycare during the day, soccer Academy sounds perfect for you

when I did a search on him, I was only able to find clubs announcing that he was going to Coach. It seems like he’s been at Vienna as well as Great Falls?

Not sure how long he’s been at Great Falls however use caution. When DS Was announced last year I think as a club, everyone was super excited to get him. Apparently he came, did nothing and now is leaving.

Valor has a way of ruining good things.

This reads like a Valor marketing person LOL. How would a Chantilly area parent know some random coach was "instrumental in developing the blah blah blah" in Great Falls? No one goes from Centrevile//Chantilly/Clifton to Great Falls for U-little soccer.

He was just put in charge of GFR U9-U12 last winter (January 2023). Not really sure how much difference you can make in a year but interesting that he is bailing after just one year in the position. He could be amazing, or not, but that's a short stint.

Ummm is this someone from valor posting this because we have heard different things about him. Look at his teams current record.

Also, in January 2023, he was named the youth Director for the boys and girls u9-u12. He must’ve been so great and they got rid of him in a little bit over a year?

Disagree. I have seen a huge difference between the quality in the highest divisions of NCSL vs. the lowest divisions. My kids haven't played rec in a long time but I would be surprised if those bottom NCSL divisions weren't actually worse than most rec teams (who presumably have at least some players with athletic skill)

Oh Valor Marketing Person. This was so close to authentic sounding but the bolded line and the "instrumental" sentence gave you away.

Generally speaking. Of course there are going to be exceptions, even with some rec teams that are doing amazing. But what is really setting these leagues apart really?

Hey Valor person, you should do an AMA. People have questions. Like what's the hold up with the rest of the coaching slate
