The Blind Side scandal

As was pointed out a few pages back: No interest of Michael Oher’s was served by being put under conservatorship. None.

The Tuohys told him that a conservatorship is equivalent to adoption. That is simply a lie. It is false. Then they repeated that lie in public for decades- “Adoptive mother or Michael Oher, 50k per speech,” on Leigh Anne’s website.

Why did they put him under conservatorship, and lie about it? In order to exploit that young man for Ole Miss and community clout, and to revel in their image as benevolent good Christian whites.

From this gag worthy article: https://www.stylemepretty.com/2016/10/27/the-blind-side-collins-tuohy-wedding-photos/

The people in this family are as self involved and self satisfied as can be. They are so far up their own asses that they actually probably believe that they saved “that poor boy”, and that they did it for pure Christian reasons.

But that is just not true. As far as the legal stuff goes… I will leave that to others. But neither they nor their rabidly publicity minded legal team should succeed in getting you to accept a false picture of their motives and actions.

What is incriminating about a happy photo of him at the wedding?

You’re hung up on assuming he feels betrayed and has emotional pain. Most of us are saying it’s hard to imagine that given that they jet when he was an older teenager. Never mind legal definitions- did he feel loved? Did he feel like part of the family?

They are boosters. Fame whores. Ok. He got a free education and a great pro career. The only reason he has a book to sell is because they had a book to sell. It’s not a fairytale but his life is indisputably better regardless.

Maybe he is feeling upset and not included and maybe he is being bratty but so do a lot of grown kids. The Tuoys said they would like to reunite and hopefully they will. I can only imagine his anger at his childhood-how many of us without threads issues are working out our own trauma.

Maybe he wanted to get his name back out there so people would buy his book? Who has been thinking about Michael Oher in the past decade? Nobody. Why do you think he had this deep emotional attachment to these people? This 37 yr old married man has a wife and kids, he's likely been busy with his own life and nuclear family barely thinking about them.

From a legal perspective, none of what you said matters. You’re also obviously racist and biased as hell.

The only thing that actually matters is if Oher suffered financial damages, and it doesn’t appear that he has.

Yes, but it’s 2023 and woke culture demands the white family be dragged through the mud.

I am seriously shocked by these kinds of posts - Calling Oher “bratty” because he is taking very justified actions related to the ways that he was exploited and deceived by the Tuohys? They.used.him.and.lied.to.him. And promoted and profited from a book and a movie that made them look like spunky sweet saviors, while making him look like a dumb ignorant wastrel.

He has oceans full of pain and trauma to process. I hope that some healing comes to him from bringing light to the reality of how he was treated.

I don’t know what woke culture is.

Can you not acknowledge that much/all of the Tuohy’s narrative about their history with Michael puts his “African Americanness” front and center, and portrays them as “being so brave and good for how they saved him, their adoptive son”? That is what I see, over and over. And it’s a gross, false portrayal. That falsity invites me to reflect on why they were so insistent on selling that false portrayal.

Is that woke?

Is he your friend or something? You don't know him or his feelings. You're way too invested in this.

Did they not help him out?

The Tuohys set themselves up with how they allowed their “fake” son to be portrayed so that they could look like amazing parents instead of self serving school boosters.

Other than one really angry person here I'm not seeing any serious blowback for the Tuohys. If nobody hired her to speak again, her life would change not at all.

So? What is his causation and damages?

Doesn’t matter to the movie proceeds issue. They need to account for that regardless. But that is a different issue

IDK, what would the damages be if you found out today your family is not your family.

Have i lived with them my whole life or did i move in at 18 after living elsewhere with other family?

Back up, so any foster kids adopted as a teen isn’t a real member of their adopted family? Are you advocating for exactly the positive of what Leann Touhy advocated for when she claimed Michael was her adopted son?

DP “Teen” is too broad a description. There’s a big difference between a 13 and 18. My family adopted a cousin at 18 and she knew it was just a legal issue.

But regardless, exactly what damages is he suing for? Emotional pain and suffering? Because he didn’t seem to suffer financially - he’s rich too. Maybe 1/5 of the $700,000 from the movie? Which is nothing to him now - because he’s rich. Unless he didn’t manage it well which athletes sometimes do. And in that case, it would definitely feel like a money grab. But only the attorneys are going to make out like winners here.

You're such a loser to keep bringing up how much money he made in his football career.

That has nothing to do with him wanting an accounting of the money they made off of him. Go away pr liar.

Fine. The fake liars need to go away and shut up about their "adopted" son.
