It is kind of amusing to watch the mainstream Republicans complain about those gosh darned obstructionists. Seems at though they are not really enjoying this taste of their own medicine.

Don't speak so soon. I expect Trump to be formally nominated soon and I expect him to win.

I'm not great at these predictions, so let's hope I'm wrong. But doing that completely wipes out any analysis of how embarrassing this is, etc. and gives a huge boost to the base. I think they are shooting it down behind closed doors, but if someone formally nominates him on the floor, watch out.

This is silly. Trump lacks any of the skillset needed to get anything done in a legislative body. He wouldn’t be able to broker compromise within his own party. He lacks focus and attention to detail. He doesn’t think strategically. He needs immediate gratification.

Remember his briefings are to be nothing more than a page with bullet points. He lacks a basic understanding of virtually any policy. He doesn’t actually like doing any hard work. Other than that …

Honestly, I think this government might function better if we do have a coalition government in the house

I don't think this happens until/unless the pro-McCarthy faction switches to another candidate like Scalise and that candidate also cannot get votes from the hold-outs. It may take a couple of these before it begins to dawn on them that no one will ever be acceptable to them.

Short of nominating one of their own, is there a way to appease them? I was thinking they just want a scalp, but if Scalise is also not acceptable, then that theory is out the door.

Don't know and it appears the pro-McCarthy faction doesn't know either. It seems like McCarthy has agreed to every demand they've made and they are still voting against him. It's possible it's just a personality issue so Scalise or someone else may be able to break the logjam. But I've seen a number of the HFC saying they'll vote against Scalise too. Who knows. They're crazy and crazy doesn't make sense.

Boebert said yesterday that no one currently in leadership positions are acceptable to her. I don't know if she speaks only for herself with that statement or if the other extremists agree with her. I think they particularly want to embarrass and keep McCarthy out, but they seem to want to burn the house down. She keeps saying she's happy that they're doing good for constituents by preventing money from being spent, which further illustrates how dumb she is and/or how much she's willing to lie with a straight face to back up her incorrect point of view.

This is what they get for letting in Trump and his antics. If they concede to these radical nut jobs it'll never end.

She has a GED and her greatest professional accomplishment prior to running for congress was owning a restaurant that required employees to be armed

I love watching Boebert just air their dirty laundry out into the open like this

They're going to care a lot this summer when they can't get money from their bank account because the debt default sank their bank, their SS checks stop coming, their doctor won't see them because Medicare/Medicaid won't pay the bills, their student loan doesn't disburse, their agency or government contractor employer won't pay them their salary, etc.
