| I used to love how cheap rehoboth was. Everyone has raised their prices and now I’m spending what I would pay to go to the Caribbean for a week. |
| Cool story. |
|
Really want to check it out, just to kind of check it off the list. But just not interested in the price point when we can fly elsewhere for a clear water vacation with fruity drinks.
Maybe we’ll try to go in the early fall. |
| But you need to fly. So there’s that. 😷 up. |
|
All the DE beaches are ridiculously overpriced and crowded. The unfettered construction over the last decade created hordes of people with no place to go: not enough roads, parking or restaurants.
Traffic this week is crazy. Next year we’ll stick to our late May and early June trips (plus off season trips) and hit elsewhere in July and August. We’re lucky since our friends lend us their beach house for free. I cannot imagine spending $$$$$ to go to DE. |
| I’ve never been to Rehoboth but have always associated it with my working-class relatives from central PA, who went there a lot in the 1990s. Now I’m seeing several of my wealthy FB friends post pics from there like it’s some kind of status spot. |
| Just because you CAN drive to DE for a "beach vacation" doesn't mean you should. I'd rather save that money and fly somewhere else. |
| I feel like Rehobeth has been this way for at least the past 7 years or so? I honestly don't get it, as the beach is not that great. You can do better elsewhere on the east coast. |

| All the MD/DE beaches are expensive and crowded and not that nice...but they are also the closest, easiest way to get away without a long drive/flying to a "beach" so that's why they're crowded. Plus everyone is making up for lost time after last year. Ofc they are not as beautiful or amazing as other beaches/vacations, but they are damn convenient and that is why we go as a family with young kids. |
I agree that's it's been expensive for awhile. But, I think the beaches are pretty great. I particularly love the drive on beaches south of Rehoboth where you can set up for the whole day and fish. I love the bay where you can lay in a raft and watch the sunset. The bay has some pretty fun boating and jet skiing if you like that sort of thing. |
We have a place in Bethany and I too have never seen it as crowded as it was this week. We went to pick something up from DBs Seafood last night, and they had a sign on the door apologizing for closing early and noting they ran out of food! Hopefully crowds subside once post-pandemic travel fever does. |
Or maybe they're just posting pictures because they're enjoying their time at the beach? |
I'm been to lots of beaches in this country and overseas, and agree the DE beaches are great. You can still find stretches that aren't too crowded, and I want lifeguards. |
| It used to be a very cheap vacation but since they put in a bridge 20 years ago prices gone steadily upwards. |
