Rehoboth got expensive

$550 a night?!?! For delaware?!!?

Not only that, I had to keep choosing dates during that week (end of August) to find a 2-night window where they actually had rooms with some ocean view. Amazing how booked things are.

I am now spending $35-50 for breakfast, $75-85 for lunch and $125-200 for dinner per day. We stay in a hotel for the pool. Games are now $2 each and skeeball is $.50.

I just played skeeball yesterday AM in Rehoboth with the kids and it was 20 cents per game! I think they now have dynamic pricing where games are more expensive in the evenings. Every machine now requires you to use the digital credits/points swipe card.

Where was this? It’s $.50 at Funland.

We were in Bethany last weekend, and it was so crowded (not to mention expensive)! Never going back again. I much prefer driving a few extra house down to Corolla or Duck where I can spread out on the beach.

Yes, definitely no foreign teens this summer, so im sure everyone needs to pay folks more.

We’ve been in Rehoboth, and I’ve found it less crowded this week than in past years. The staffing issues seem really bad, though.

I agree that's it's been expensive for awhile. But, I think the beaches are pretty great. I particularly love the drive on beaches south of Rehoboth where you can set up for the whole day and fish. I love the bay where you can lay in a raft and watch the sunset. The bay has some pretty fun boating and jet skiing if you like that sort of thing.

Where do you go exactly to raft in the bay?

If you're going south on Coastal Highway, there are some turnoffs right before you hit the bridge where there is parking. I forget the street names - maybe New Road is one of them.

I’m happy to see the businesses back up and doing well. They took such a hit during quarantine; quite a few went out of business. The restaurants had to go from 0 to 60 in a very short time period, so there’s going to be a cycle of adjusting/compensating. They have less money to spend for inventory and staff - but I would guess things will calm down again soon. We love the short drive, the huge stretch of beach, the different beachy towns, the shopping. We have tried new restaurants this year that are so good! It’s not the place for everyone, but so many people I know really love it. I don’t mind spending a little extra to help the businesses get back up and running. Also, there’s no sales tax so that’s a bonus!

I believe this is the "MAGA!" that Trump promised.

Oh, people don't like it because it's too expensive? Too bad.

Same. I wouldn't pay to rent a house there but I'd stay for free with a friend. Too many downsides: the surf is rough, the water is cold, beach is crowded. I'd rather fly to Caribbean or Florida for blue water than look at the dreary brown water in DE and OBX.

Going to FL for summer beach vacation is awful.

Zelky's Beach Arcade, it's just north of Funland on the boardwalk. It's the building with the mini golf course on the roof overlooking the beach. Great arcade.

We go there. And Nantucket. Enjoy them both

When it’s 90 out, who wants warm ocean water???

Is it the best beach? Nope. But some families have been going there for generations, and seeing my kids enjoy some of the same places I grew up with is priceless.

It's not due to immigration policy, it's due to corona restrictions on people entering the US.
