Lost first 10 lbs!

Anonymous
Needed to lose my Covid weight so started tracking calories through MFP about 2 months ago and tried to stay under 1200 net calories a day. Also started exercising. I’m so happy to have made this much progress, I have about 5 more Covid lbs to go and then another 5 lbs to get down to where I would like to be. Any tips for staying motivated?

It hasn’t been too difficult so far, but I’m concerned about staying steady. I do have a day here and there when I don’t track my calories because we are out and about and I want to enjoy eating out and time with friends and family without trying to figure out calories. But those days are rare and sporadic (they just help things feel not so restrictive).

That’s awesome OP! I’ve been using MFP consistently for 7 months and it’s so helpful. I don’t want to break my streak at this point!

My only tip is to (mostly) take meals off, don’t take days off. Tomorrow I’m going out for dinner so I’ll eat a protein packed breakfast and lighter lunch. And plan ahead. I’ll often put in what I plan to eat for the next day and edit as necessary if I change it up. But that way I don’t go over calories by mistake

Congratulations! I think you are on the right track and wouldn’t recommend giving up the few days you are less strict. It doesn’t seem to be derailing you. Just keep doing what you’re doing. If you want, you can up the exercise (cardio and strength training). I personally enjoy working out more than going too low in calories. I can’t go as low as 1200 calories.

1200 calories is not enough for an adult.
