popular vs. unpopular continues into motherhood

Now I know this has been discussed over and over but I need to bring it up. Let's set the stage, I know I might appear to look like a snobby bitch that cares a lot about appearances. I am very nice and open to meeting new people though. So today I was at the park and was attempting to make small talk with a group of moms that had also just met. They looked rather frumpy dumpy but hey I was up for some chatter. They shunned me, didn't want to talk to me. As I walked away I hear them discussing my son who admittedly looks like a fratstar in training. I feel I was just victim or reverse discrimination. Dorks...

Probably not. If you believe messages are from trolls or sock puppets, please use the "report" button to let me know about it rather than unnecessarily disrupting a thread.

Since this ensures a flame war and has been discusses already about a million times...why not just read comments in the archives. Must be a slow weekend coming up....

Did you also write the "Do women hate you" post on the Off Topic forum?

OP here, nope didn't write it but will have to check it out. Sounds like it's right up my alley, I was all about being friendly but now I am becoming a dork hater once again.

I'm sorry that your struggle with unpopularity continues into motherhood. I'm sure that's really hard.

You don't want people to judge you on your looks, yet you cast judgment on other people's looks (frumpy = dorky).

Maybe you answered your own question if you this is your outlook.

truthfully I don't care, I was trying to get over that stuff and not be judgy but they brought it right back out.

Take heart, we all know deep down that the only true and good people on this Earth are the stylish ones that read fashion blogs.

Maybe OP is too beautiful to be accepted by the "frumpy dumpy" park ladies? Or maybe they thought beauty = stupid?

Still "trying" all these years later? Yikes. I think that battle has been lost, in your case. Just give up and be who you are.

My crowd of sarcastic/hipster/globetrotting moms (who, in our frayed-cuff jeans and down vests, probably look frumpy/dorky to you) are just as happy keeping to ourselves, as we are being graced by the presence of an aging prom queen.

Trying to imagine hipsters in cutoff shorts and down vests?? What the? In what kind of weather?
