I really like the name Susan/Susie. Both my mom and MIL are named Susan so it’d be killing two birds... so to speak. But I also just think I have an affinity for our-mom’s-names. I like Leslie, Mary, Linda, Diane, Lisa, Sharon, Julie, Patricia...
Anyone else? These names are going to make a comeback soon. |
Yes I named my kid Dwight. And my other kid Alger. And my third Averill. Finally the fourth was named McGeorge.
Does Penelope count?
Nope. I think the names like Barbara, Carol, Susan, Linda, Leslie, Elaine, Irene, Sharon, etc. should all be retired.
No thanks

I like Diane, Linda, and Sharon. But I think the problem with these names is that people having kids right now still just have too many associations with them. Like I’m not going to name my kid a name from my mom’s book club. Nothing against those women, but the association with a 60- or 70-something woman is too strong.
That’s why people are more likely to use names from their grandparents or great-grandparents generation. Much less likely to be the name of a neighbor, elementary school teacher, aunt or uncle, etc. |
+1 Also Jennifer, Diane, Heather, Janet, Tracy, Michelle. All ick. |
You could use Susana/Susannah.
Susan is lovely and classic.
It’s cute. Go for it!
Maybe Sosie.
I love Susan, Irene, Mary, Sally, Penny, Beatrice/Bea.
I don't care for many of them but I do like Susan and a nice tribute to t b email Grandmas. Could also be the middle name.
I love some of those names. Susan and Diana are super pretty. Others like Carol and Linda feel very old lady and ugly.
I know someone who named her daughter Susan after her mother who passed away when we were in college. She got a lot of positive feedback.
