+1 But that would require test kits and competent leaders. |

We go to church in Georgetown, and service was 1/2 empty today.
Not sure if it’s from DST or people avoiding crowds. Not the Church with DOH warning. |
I don’t think death is THE critical factor. It’s one of them. Getting intubated, staying in the hospital for two weeks, the pain of pneumonia, all of that is no joke. I am encouraged that there have been no deaths there but it really isn’t the only thing we are trying to avoid. |

Numbers in for Italy:

Sorry to give you a different point of view. Reddit is full of German posters decrying the strict testing policies in most (not all) areas of Germany. They are completely incredulous that there are zero deaths in Germany. People who were admitted to the hospital with pneumonia without having been tested are being recorded as flu deaths. Unlike Spain, Germany has done no retrospective testing of untested pneumonia deaths. |
Hmm, interesting. I guess why that explains they are now over 950 cases but no deaths recorded. https://www.google.com/amp/s/berlinspectator.com/amp/2020/03/08/coronavirus-in-germany-no-end-in-sight/ |
How many recent elderly pneumonia deaths in the US do you think may have been covid19? |
My boss is 70. |
Have no idea, but Seattle did retrospective testing of recent pneumonia deaths from residents of the LTC facility and found two from before they knew there was a problem and added them to the death toll. |
And that is just in two weeks... Do you still remember this?.... January 26th... CNBC is reporting a traveler from China has tested positive for the new Wuhan coronavirus that has killed 6 so far an infected nearly 300. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/21/cdc-to-announce-fi...-has-killed-6-cnn-reports.html |

The Qatif lock down area has a population of 500,000 per CNN. |
PP here. Yes, my mom is similarly active at a senior place she frequents—she planned on taking some reasonable precautionary measures, like staying home more (she’s normally out and about during the day, even in mid-70s). Will call and check on both my parents today. |

There haven't been any hot spots in quite awhile - since Iran or Italy. So far very few outbreak areas. A good sign.
If this was really snowballing, we would see continuous new hot spots developing around the world but we are mostly seeing a more typical flu season like pattern. |
