This is so laughable. To think anyone from Maryland would travel to Virginia for mediocre lacrosse is ridiculous. Baltimore would the next stop if anyone was dissatisfied with DC Express (for the record no one is). |
| Is VLC planning on expanding down next year? Will there be a 2028 or 2029 team? |
take a drug test, you;'r in fantasy land. vlc can't compete at this age group, no chance they beat dce orange. |
VLCs 2025 lost to TopCaliber 2025 in HOCO AAA last weekend |
They announced an upcoming clinic for 2028s and 2029s, not sure if that is standard procedure for them but it would make sense to cultivate interest for the upcoming tryouts for 2028 (which I believe would be their next group as they have a 2027 but nothing younger yet). Not sure they're feeling any pressure from True or Top Caliber etc but maybe they'll start having a younger team than usual? Going as young as 2027 would be new to them? Tryouts in fall for that would have that be a 5th grade team. |

Where were the clinics advertised? Couldn't find it on their website or social media posts, can you post a link?

VLCs 2025 lost to TopCaliber 2025 in HOCO AAA last weekend
Don't know about VLC's 2025 team, but Top Caliber's 2025 team has a ton of holdbacks, which is probably why they won. Top Caliber had a team in the WSYL and they did not do well. They had to combine with Team Maryland just to form a squad because they did not have enough on age players. Having said that VLC had Black Ops (combined with other teams) in the WSYL which did well, but I don't know how many of the VLC kids were on that team. At face value, VLC's on age kids are better than Top Caliber, it's the holdbacks which makes Top Caliber better. |
delusional rationalization, vlc got a clinic on coaching and how to play eight grade lax - maybe hit the wall and play faster, smarter? tc barely warmed up ad had 6 subs and led the whole game even though vlc won every faceoff. offball movement got kids open to get the ball to shoot and score. tc can run fastbreaks and emo. |
| You're right, Top Caliber did all of those things against VLC, and their coaches were able to the things that they did because they had older, faster, stronger kids who could execute the things that they wanted to. |
It was on their Instagram account, but didn't seem to flow through to Facebook. |
No. TC was not unusually big. I didn’t see any obvious holdbacks. They had some very athletic kids though. This was particularly significant because TC didn’t field a very big team (maybe all their players didn’t show up?). TC athleticism really showed in the s fourth quarter, when they were still strong and VLC was out of gas. TC won because they were more athletic and played better. Their offense knew how to get a guy open, pass to him, and score points. That said, it was a close game, not a blowout. |
| VLC and TC are both great programs. This debate over why a game turned out a certain way is a bad look for both of them. Just saying. |
TC players aren't any faster or stronger but yes they moved the ball much much faster and with a plan and did not lose the ball nearly as much as Vlc - don't know all the players ages but speed and strength have nothing to with that so keep looking for an excuse. TC plays like an organized team with effective coaching and should continue to get better over spring and summer. |
Yup. VLC had way too many unforced turnovers, which often enough resulted in TC scoring points. Especially notable on that front is that VLC won the great majority of the face-offs, but their offense wound up losing the ball without scoring. Yes, TC was an organized team with effective coaching. VLC was much less so.TC didn't do anything that can't be taught - but VLC is not being effectively taught to move the ball fast and act well as a team. Definitely a coaching problem. |
My son plays on this team and we have zero intention of leaving or looking at other programs. If we were getting blown out, I'd be concerned. We are better than we were 1 month ago, and especially 1 year ago. I will say that all of this negative chatter does not help anyone. Have some faith that the coaches will do their jobs, the boys will figure it out, and the individual and team results will come. See you Saturday! |
