Younger ages too - Landon, Potomac, Flint Hill, Mater Dei.

It's a mix at older ages. There are SJC, PVI, STA, Potomac School, and GZ kids on 22 and 23 teams.

Sure but more than half the team is public school kids. Over 50%=most

If you are good at lax do the private schools discount tuition?

No. Your child’s lacrosse ability offers them a better education.

Yes, but more of a financial aid (wink, wink) kind of thing than an athletic scholarship.

What happened to the VLC 2026 team? The team is in the elite division finally and Hawks put up a football score 18-8 vs VLC in HOCO.
The team seemed competitive with the Hawks in the Summer and Fall. Did the Hawks get that much better or did something change with the VLC coaching or players? I guess the bright spot is the team scored 8 on the Hawks.

Same coaches and players, and VLC will do fine in the elite division. The game was 8-5 in the third quarter, but VLC did not have the depth to hang with the Hawks, which has been the case for VLC (and most teams) in the past. The final was actually 16-8, so hopefully HoCo will correct that. Yes, scoring 8 goals is encouraging, and it will be interesting to see how many other teams score 8 on the Hawks this spring. I will be surprised if anybody besides Crabs is able to do so.

I think this can't be said from experience. Express may have great coaching, I am not taking anything away from them but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone complaining about a systemic lack of good coaching at VLC. Just like some years do better than others, some coaches will always be better than others. VLC has a pretty solid coaching roster so I think the OP probably had a kid cut or is just an express fanboy/girl.

Yes, the basic rule of youth sports - if you can't beat a team, then try to poach their players!

VLC 2025 is not very good and word is that most of their players are looking for new homes this summer.

That team has been put through the wringer with poor coaching, poor tourneys and a commitment to poor play. I'd expect to see their pole, one of their goalies (maybe both), and 1-2 middies ending up at ML, DCE, and other teams. Top Caliber could get a couple as well.

I completely agree with this assessment, and would not be surprised at all if players left.

Last summer VLC management said “don’t worry, we’re going to fix this” after the team got spanked in a tournament. But so far it isn’t fixed.

25 VLC has some real talent. I think the core will remain committed and the team will get a lot better this summer.

The 25 DCE B team is very unhappy, with continued issues at that club, and the rumor mill is swirling. At least a third of their team will be at tryouts for VLC. They have some elite players on and word is they will go back to VLC and play in VA for high school club. Lots of the Cav families and former VLC players want back into the fold and want to play at a higher level than B team, single A league.

There will be major movement in this age group as they go into high school this year. VLC will compete with the bigger clubs in the DMV, no problem.

True but the problem is they’re not being coached effectively or directed well on the field during games. So they don’t know how to do things they should know how to do, that equally talented players on other teams have been trained to do.
