Where have they publicly advocated for this? Last I heard they were advocating for Option B of the four maps. I didn't hear anyone at a meeting say KAA should be a magnet. Are they lobbying school board members behind closed doors or something?

Don’t mislead people. It also says:

“Equity and Choice: A magnet model would make Western's specialized "school-within-a-school" programs available to all FCPS students, aligning directly with district equity goals without redrawing boundaries.”

Oh geez. I knew about the website but hadn't spent much time looking at it. "...middle schoolers who've already built years of preparation around Oakton High School". Aka one family obsessed with their "star athlete" competing at Oakton.

People can click the link themselves so option b if traditional or magnet but where does it say one is preferred over the other? Please also don’t mislead people especially when the bulk of the section you cited is focused on option b.

It’s literally on their “Our Position” page that they are advocating for a magnet. Stop gaslighting people.

This has been said countless times in this thread…rooted in Oakton does not speak for all Crossfield families even if they want to stay within the pyramid.

Wasn’t aware that Crossfield had it’s own non FCPS website, nice generalization.

A magnet school does not solve the overcrowding problem. Period.

Be careful what you wish for.

Write the School Board.

Tell why Crossfield should be sent to KAA.

Are you saying no one from those 3 crowded pyramids would got to KAA for a magnet?

Just limit the magnet to western fairfax county!

Translation: they purposely bought houses in those neighborhoods so they could go to Oakton and they have spent years schmoozing the Oakton athletic coaches.

Be confident. We need to prove that there are a lot more smarter kids in these crowded western fcps than kids from just one ES.
