Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University

200 is spitting distance for a scoped bolt action rifle with a 100 meter zero.

We live in an insane country.

Not a single one of us is safe, anywhere.

The sooner this gets through to everyone, the better.

Not the comfy mom in lululemon on her sofa in McLean, not Charlie Kirk, no one. A little girl who went to school with my daughter was shot and killed by a stray bullet while watching tv in her apartment.

No one should be shot. How many people need to be shot before we recognize that guns are a disease? If political commentators and the powerful and the rich need to be victimized before anyone takes this seriously so be it.

Statement from MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler:

“During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise.”

Good. You’d never hear this from Fox.

Just to clarify, I meant you’d never hear an apology such as this from Fox. Fox talking heads have said awful things at times.

Fox didn’t disparage him. MSNBC did.

Sure. If you believe everything to read and see on the internet, you are not smart enough to be online.

Another lib in denial with T…D…S

My social media feed is as liberal as they come. No one is celebrating.

I have high school friends who live in Brooklyn. They are celebrating on Facebook.

Link to the posts - they don’t seem like they’re people you should worry about being friends with.

I’m not going to share my friends posts. But if you look at the NPR story on Charlie Kirk’s murder, nearly 400 of the 1300 reaction emojis are laughter, and nearly 600 are the thumbs up.

Of course! This is how they control us.
We've been divided and conquered by the wealthy elites controlling our two major political parties. Wake up folks. Your fellow Americans are NOT your enemies!
Seriously delete social media. They are platforming crazy people and it’s driving everyone insane. Mind you people are getting rich of the division from Ad money.

How is quoting Kirk disparaging him?

He is very popular with teenage boys, I would go as far to say that is his main demographic.

My younger teen (14) son hadn't heard of Kirk before today. I'm curious if you ask a teen boy, what about Kirk appealed to them. I'm asking genuinely, I would really like to understand.

He didn’t hate teen boys for their identities. That’s it. I don’t even think a lot of his fans necessarily agreed with his politics. They were just so desperate for some political/media figure that didn’t hate them for who they are.

You know what PP means. Of course Fox speaks well of conservatives. But they tell lies about the left and liberals all the time and won't admit wrongdoing. It is good to see an organization that is considered left leaning being responsible. You'll never see that from the right.

And there is a tweet saying “love you see #CharlieSquirt” with 40,000 likes.

Disgusting.

Oh, well that means nothing.

Phew, I thought you had some actual evidence of this kind of stuff. Nice to know ppl aren’t that awful.

Americans have always hated Americans. We actually fought a war because we didn’t like each other. It was called the Civil War.

PP here. Thx for info. I don't know a thing about guns except the rifles we used i. target practice at camp years ago. I know a football field is 120 yds, so 200 yds sounded like a long distance to me.

+1. I think people dramatically overestimate how unusual this period of history is.

Anyone watching Fox News or MSNBC in the wake of today's events is a complete and utter irrelevant idiot so it doesn't matter which network disparaged him because no one of importance heard them. Kinda like a tree falling in the woods with no one around to hear it. Was there sound? Maybe, maybe not. Who cares?
