I don’t respect my neighbors who have netted their trees

I feel a little bad but the disdain is overpowering.

That's not nice of you. While netting trees is not necessary in most cases, I always respect those who want to mitigate risk, rather than those who prefer to take on more risk.

Sorry, what's this about? You disagree with people protecting young, newly-planted trees (which presumably they paid for) from cicada eggs? Why? It seems logical to me but I admit I'm biased since I absolutely netted the two trees I just planted in April.

I think you have WAY too much time on your hands and need to get busy with something worthwhile (read: don't worry about what your neighbors are doing)

Why do you care what your neighbors do? You have also done things to earn their scorn, before you get too high up on that horse.
Anonymous
Why does it bother you?

Wow! You may be the most judgmental human alive.

People are making money selling cicada panic supplies. There will always be a market for panic-based products and services. I don't mind the netters as much as the mosquito sprayers.

How is that any of your business?

You should be annoyed by the neighbors who spray toxic crap around your property.

Why? I didn't net a small tree i dont care about and there are a ton of branches broken from the sheer weight of the cicadas molting on it.

I'm about to net my trees. I'm so tired of the squirrels and birds stealing our apples and peaches. We're trying to avoid that this year and harvest our own fruit for a change. You can hate our nets all you want.

I feel sorry for your neighbors that they have to deal with you in any capacity.

Well this is one of the weirdest posts on dcum today.

For the cicadas? Baby trees are vulnerable, I’m not sure about the small ornamentals like Japanese maples.
