I don’t respect my neighbors who have netted their trees

Anonymous
Who cares that much either way?

Such a judgemental place.

Ok, Mrs. Kravitz.

hahahahaha! I hope you are still here because I'm a huge Ann Lamott fan, and this is one of her favorite lines.

OP, please tell us more. You neighbors have netted their newly planted baby trees. Please explain why you are so angry and disdainful.

You should be annoyed by the neighbors who spray toxic crap around your property.

This.

I judge the owners of ever clover free lawn I pass.

So many hypocrites in this world.

Uh oh. Please let's ignore the original poster here, who is a nasty nutcase. But I do need to know what's wrong with clover-free lawns. I just called my gardener to tell him my lawn is half clover. Is the only lawn spray toxic????? I will cancel. Is there anything else I can do naturally to stop my lawn - and plantings - from being overrun by clover?

What did you think they were going to spray on it? Just mow it, and weed the beds.

I had newly planted trees (less than one year) in the last go round with Brood X. I was advised not to worry about netting since the trees were not a preferred cicada target. Ended up losing two of three trees; third one recovered after several leafless/sickly years. I’m not going to judge anyone for netting trees. The damage is costly and unsightly. A net certainly doesn’t hurt or inconvenience the cicadas. Find something else to be holier-than-thou about, OP

NP. That’s an awfully strong reaction.

+1. Japanese beetles almost destroyed my new trees last year. I definitely netted.

OP, MYOB. I can't believe you are so dramatic as to make a post about this. I really recommend a better hobby that isn't being snarky about harmless things your neighbors do to protect their landscaping.

Tents are like masks. Only liberals or elites would tent a tree.

Spray with horticultural vinegar and mow higher so the grass outcompetes it. But why would you want to destroy nitrogen-fixing plants? Unless you are removing white clover because it is not native?

Our neighbors dump poison on their lawn. It drifts into my yard and the smell is horrendous-for days. They also immediately let their dogs and kids/grandkids out to play and then wonder why they keep losing dogs to cancer.

I just took a net off of one of my baby dogwoods. The leaves were getting a fungus on them because they weren’t ever drying off properly under there.

Thank you for your disdain, OP. I was just coming to post why people were doing this. I personally have no opinion but was curious. Carry on the pointless arguing all.

So cicadas are the Republican spirit animal?
