Celebrity height differences - Shailene Woodley, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, and Zoe Kravitz

I never realized how short some of these glamorous celebrities are.

Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern are both tall. 5-11 and 5-10, I think I've read.

So I think it's a case of a few tall girls making the more average girls look pretty short.

I think tiny reads better on film/ video for some reason. So many actors are very small

I don't know. I think Reese is shot and dressed very carefully and therefore looks great.

Nicole Kidman....you could put the woman in a paperbag and she'd look great. Her clothes in that HBO show The Undoing...amazing.

I would guess the main casting advantage for the tiny ones is they never make the tiny guys look tiny. So we can keep up the illusion and not have to suspend reality for a few hours and pretend like Tom Cruise, for example, is a big guy.

I remember having this epiphany in college. The "hot" girl on my floor was tiny and came out dressed for a formal with another girl on the floor who was 5-10 and who typically dressed really casually. 5-10 girl in her formal wear made hot girl look like a troll. It was impossible to take your eyes off her.

I'm still confused about the Nicole Kidman/Tom Cruise red carpet pictures though. Was he standing on a box the whole time? Or was she kneeling and they just didn't show her feet?
