Lasted 3 days before cheated on diet

Started Friday and lasted 3 days. My work habits broke my willpower. Clearly I grab sweets when work get nuts. So to everyone NOT cheating on your diets, you are amazing! This is so much harder than I ever thought!

Diets don't work. You have to make a permanent lifestyle change.

Don't do restrictive diets. You know you can lose weight and still have some candy? Moderation, portion control, and some type of tracking are WAY more successful long term than "I can't have X food anymore"

Honestly I think of myself as someone who loses weight easily (I only TRY to lose weight if I put some on while on vacation or something, I otherwise maintain a very healthy weight), and I always do it by going 2-3 days of letting myself get "a little hungry," and then stopping for 2-3 days. Rinse, repeat.

It's something I've always done.

Just think of this as your little mini break, give yourself a pat on the back for the days you DID diet, and then do the same thing over and over again.

Getting off sugar is hard. I basically have to detox by saying no added sugar and eat fruit if I crave sugar. That helps me get through it. If you are struggling, start with one meal and make good choices for say lunch for a week. But seriously, getting off ultra processed food will help the sugar/sweet cravings. Plus not buying garbage to begin with.

Thanks to everyone who replied - TRULY!

Moved ALL the sweets/cheats out of the house so when work stress calls, carrots and hummus now only there to answer!

Happy healthy eating to everyone! From, OP

It helps me to prep a plate of fruit and vegetables in the morning and have it close by, so if I'm stress eating it's the easiest thing to grab.

I'm reading the Beck Diet Solution. It's about your thought process and how to change it. So far it's already helping me and I'm not closed to finishing it yet. I heard about it here.

I agree with everyone else who has said diets don't work. I have had to revamp my eating habits because I love sugar and will always default to the sugary snacks first if they are in the house. What has worked for me is allowing myself to splurge at the grocery store. I get all the seasonal fruit that looks good. Currently my fridge is stocked with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, mango, etc. I bring it home and wash it and prep it so it's easy to grab and also keep some Trader Joe's coconut whipped cream to top the berries for a real treat. I also let myself pick out lots of veggies with multiple dip options- hummus, salad dressing, fresh guacamole, salsa. This has worked for me because I feel like I'm really choosing what I want to eat, but they are all whole food, satisfying choices.
