Annoying Wedding Invitation Today

Anonymous
At 6:30 am today. First day in person school while getting out of shower my phone starts beeping from texts one after another. Trying to get kid up, breakfast, work.

My drama Queen cousin announces her kid in person wedding on December that was delayed, like 40 people on the group text. Then a link to book hotel now with code today if you want to make sure. She adds in no kids. Meanwhile three of us are at last kid stage. I have a 14 year old and other two away at college. After beeping 15 minutes. I finally reply it is a six hour drive and a weekend thing with it being adult only I have to get back to you if we all can attend or one parent stays home.

She literally was looking for us to book rooms and rsvp on a 6:30 am Monday.

She is a bit of a nut. But is she clueless. Why not send during weekend or later in the day?

I thought some type of school emergency or Covid warning. The women is 60 and retired. Her child is 27. Oddly came from mom not the 27 year old. We are first cousins so I don’t get it. No one has little kids. We are talking maybe you 2-3 tweens still at home. Last kids among all the first cousins. And wedding is an overnight thing for everyone.

I would not have responded as the group text got me involved as another person asked what am I doing my kid. I have no baby sitting or relatives nearby.

Mail a invite or send an email lady. Who puts everyone on the spot at 630 am

You clearly don't like these relatives so skip it. If a text message annoys you, I can only imagine how you will do at the actual event.

This is annoying but the 14 year old can stay in the hotel room during the wedding so that’s a non-issue

It's a group text at 6:30am. That IS annoying. Can't you read? You're annoying too.

Can't a 14 year old stay at home for the night or in the hotel? I can't imagine why you'd need a sitter for a 14 year old. Or have your college aged kids come watch him for the weekend.

I mean that's aggressive, but she's probably excited and anxious to plan. Agree that would be annoying.

I mean if you can't go you can't go. I get it. It's a tough time to be asking people to travel, gather, and to find alternatives for their kids.

The only people I know whose phones beep when they get a message are b**mers. Ok, b**mer.

I agree that it's annoying -- it's one thing to text out the new date for the wedding, but a barrage of texts about how you need to book your hotel TODAY is kind of nuts.

Ding ding ding. Or turn do not disturb on before 8am if you don't want messages.

You know you can ignore the group text and leave the conversation so it doesn't bother you with all the pinging or silence the notifications for that text? Then get back to your relative when you have the time.

Turn alerts off for group texts when you get them. Also have your phone on do not disturb until a later time in the morning.

her kid is 14, all she needs is Youtube and room service as an alternative, so that part shouldn't be annoying. My teen would be THRILLED not to have to go to the wedding itself.

Old people wake up early and send early texts which ARE annoying. I leave my phone in the other room when I sleep -- if there's an emergency someone is going to call and I'll hear that (I have texts set to vibrate).

YOU sound like the drama queen. And super annoying.

Turn off all alerts until 9am, at the very least. And turn off all alerts from these particular people.

Maybe the mom is hosting the wedding? Then it would make sense that she is issuing the invitations.
