Annoying Wedding Invitation Today

Anonymous
I have little ones and must be a boomer too. I need my phone to let me know when I get a call or text. Group texts at 630 while getting ready would be slightly annoying but a demanding "make travel plans now" is very obnoxious. Clearly, op loves this family enough to entertain the idea over just blocking the messages. Family can be a bit more obnoxious with eachother because there is a greater comfort level. Op, chalk it up to a nervous mom wanting her dd's day to be great. Decide if you want to deal with all the drama to come (they may need you to spend a bit more or switch dates again or something) and rsvp accordingly.

?? Why can't the 14 yr old attend the wedding? They are grown up enough not to be a distraction. This is so weird.

Why are people putting on large gathering weddings, indoors, in middle of a pandemic?

- NO, my ass is not coming to your big ass indoor wedding reception
- NO, my ass is not traveling to a hotel either.

At most, if you're nearby, I will come to your outdoor wedding ceremony. Then it's outdoor reception or bye bye.

I REALLY think its rude to even ask me to come. For real.

I'm not sure why everyone is piling on OP - who texts a wedding invitation and wants a response immediately?

Even when I was single with tons of money and no obligations, I still would want a couple days to figure this out. who wants a reply to an out of town wedding invitation RIGHT NOW?

If the texts were as incomprehensible as OP’s post I’d be annoyed too.

I’m team OP all around.

Op, you need to silence that group text, rsvp that you will be coming alone so that your DH can stay home with your DD. Done.

Why would you assume the 14 year-old isn’t invited to the wedding? That is not a kid it’s a teenager.

This. So odd that OP is offended.

Why are 60 year olds annoying on text? They just are. My FIL used to get up at 5am and start texting us in California in the middle of the night. The phones are on do not disturb now but this was years ago when alerts were minimal. He now texts me while I am coaching sports games about the game and my watch goes off. I leave it on in case of emergency. No one else
does this. I had to ask him to stop. They have no clue. Have you seen them with their phones? They cannot put them away, ever.

Only 30% of Americans are fully vaccinated and only 42% have had at least one dose. This healthy guy in his 40s just died.

If the invite came to "Mr and Mrs Smith" rather than "Mr and Mrs Smith and family" then it's pretty clear.

And I think OP said it was an older relative getting married - so it's likely not a 200 person affair and they had to cut numbers from somewhere. It makes sense to cut out that whole generation if it's a smaller event.
