Anyone watching Mare of Easttown?

I hate having to wait! I was so ready to binge the whole season after the first episode. Kate Winslet's accent is great. Sometimes I forget she is British.

I was hoping that the dialogue would be better - the characters seem pretty broadly drawn - but I'm enjoying it on the whole. I can relate so much to Mare!

So good! Can’t wait for the next episode.

I loved the scene with the cop who’s afraid of blood and the addict locked in a bedroom. Mare handled that like a champ.

If you haven’t seen it, you should watch her in Mildred Pierce.

Just when I was ready to cancel HBO (haven't cancelled since I got HBO to watch The Undoing).

OP here, I've watched that several times and you're right its awesome!

Yeah I loved it too. The only thing I'd say about Kate Winslet who I do enjoy watching, is that she doesn't give much emotional variation. And her blank looks are truly blank - there is no hard thinking going on behind them. Other than that I absolutely loved it.

I really like this show and I hate having to wait to, but it’s like the only way they can portray women being serious and “emotionally impacted by a big something” if they don’t smile and have one flat personality.

Also I find her attempt at a Pennsylvania/Delaware accent pretty distracting. No one else has the same accent, and even Jean Smart sounds a little more natural. Guy Pearce is Australian for goodness sake, and he sounds normal.

I grew up about 15 minutes from Easttown and think she totally nailed the accent! It really is a little different from a true Philadelphia accent. It is weird to me that she’s the only one using the correct accent though.

I’m glad to see other fans here! I read the Vulture review online and of course when I was searching for it some other idiots’ reviews popped up as well: too gloomy, depressing, etc. I like dark, and I like when shows are slowly paced, as well (my other peeve is when people have no attention span and can’t sit through the development of a show)!

She has the Delco accent down perfectly. The Os especially. Those are my people and it's quite amazing to hear it for real on TV for once.

Has all the beats of a prestige drama but the first episode seems as if it was just mimicking the formula. Hope it gets better.
