Re: people who are mad about how Kadera pushed for McKinley’s interests in the boundary process. Wasn’t she the McKinley PTA president? Isn’t it her role to advocate for the school and push forward the desires of the parents in the membership? They voted for her to be their voice. |
Well. I’m a McK parent and yet another problem is she didn’t represent everyone’s point of view. Everything was dominated by the Madison Manor crowd. It was just presented to all of us and the SB like we all agreed. I always thought the school swap made a good amount of sense. I think lots of people thought that. |
Not a McK parent, but I had the same misgivings about her advocacy on the school moves. McK was going to get split up no matter what happened. If it stayed put, then pretty much every McK student north of 66 would go to Reed. If it moved, then some combo of MM/DH would probably go to Ashlawn. It was clear that different groups of McK parents disagreed about what to do. She didn't have to take sides and had good reasons not to, but she did anyway. Still planning on voting for her though. Her actual advocacy was thoughtful and respectful, and there's just no way I could support an APE-backed candidate. |
Another McK parent. As a tax payer, I though covid was the perfect time to break up the school. It's illogical to do it the way it was done. |
McK was not a unified entity. She pushed for the loudest yellers in the group (MM). |
I am probably going to end up voting for but feel nervous about how she will act during The McKinley Battles: Round 3. This is all coming up when they do elementary boundaries yet again in Fall 2022. They are going to have bust up these McKinley people at Reed. Can she be objective about that? It's all her old pals and her neighbors. The school completely should have been broken up in the last round of boundary changes. Dumb. |
I don't know her well; but it's a good question. She may continue to be swayed by the loudest group, if that's what swayed her during round 1. My outside-McKinley impression then, though, was that she sincerely bought the sales pitch some McK folks gave her about their alternative data and scenario. THAT would concern me for round 3. |
