Potomac Physicians Associates

Anonymous
I just found out that Potomac Physicians Associates will be dissolving their practice this summer and all of their doctors will be moving to various concierge health practices. I now have to look for a new internist as I'm not interested in joining a pricey concierge group. Does anyone know why they are dissolving?

Oh no! How did you find this out? I’m a patient there.

I received a weird email from my doctor informing me of their new practice so I got onto the PPA website and they have a message there that was posted a few days ago.

There is no notice about this on the web site.

Are you referring to Potomac Physician Association practices in Chevy Chase and Bethesda?

This would be... odd.

Is this a trend in medicine? Straight out of the pages of Applied Income Inequality 101?

I got the email today too.

Associates. You would have gotten an email today.

I got the email today too, and, the Bethesda office has been poorly run for a while. While I liked my doctor, I cannot say anything nice about how the practice was run/managed. But I don't like the doc enough to pay for concierge - already pay a lot for health insurance!

I’m really disappointed and sad about having to find a new doctor. In hindsight, we should have probably seen this coming when they closed the office in Germantown. The doctors who are headed to Medical One have a much more reasonable annual fee ($200) than the other group ($1,800!).

Good Luck finding a new practice that is not concierge. I had a time of it when my son aged out of the Pediatrician. Everyone who had good reccomendations wanted an annual fee. My son is 20 and healthy. He might have 1 checkup a year.

Some docs of PPA are good, but some are not. Yet they all want 2k lock up fees?
