Are you sure the practice is dissolving? My email didn't say that. It said my doctor (THacker) was going concierge and there was no notice about anybody else. In fact I didn't panic because I figured I'd be shunted off to someone else. My doc's info still gave her address as the Fernwood location so I was curious about the relationship between Signature and Privia/PPA. I really like my doc and my spouse sees her too but I'm not sure we're going to pay $3500 to keep seeing her. WHich is a huge bummer because I felt like there was a relationship and she cared.

PP here. Got to the website and click on the tab marked "Transition." This sucks.

This was their follow up email today:

We understand you may have questions about which of our providers will be joining One Medical as well as what switching to a membership-based practice means.

Because One Medical offers services and benefits that go beyond what insurance covers, there is an annual membership fee. This allows One Medical to provide an exceptional experience that simplifies the way patients get care. We have worked closely with One Medical to ensure that for our patients, the first year of membership will be discounted from $199 to $50.

Or it’s really hard to practice as a primary care doctor these days under insurance regulations. No one goes into primary care for greed.

https://www.ppa.md/transition

Looks like the entire Chevy Chase office is transitioning to One Medical ($199/year) and the entire Bethesda office is transitioning to SignatureMD ($1800/year). Sucks that my long-time Dr. is in the $1800/year group. I'd stay with her for $199 but not for that much more. Time to find a new Dr. Yep, really sucks.

Yup, I have Thaker as my PCP. I love her, rather loved her. I will take my business elsewhere.

PPA can do this because they are in wealthy MoCo.

I will say, the male PA at their office was not very good.

Plenty of PCP offices that don't do concierge.

Anyone have experience with concierge practices? Are rhey that much better?

Where are people switching to? I'm upset that I didn't even receive an email, I found out here. The thing I liked about PPA was the 3 (until they closed Germantown) locations. I liked Dr. Delaney, but it was increasingly difficult to get an appointment with her. Any recs for a new practice in Rockville or Olney?

I go to the office in North Bethesda n Exec Blvd but I think there are others around, too. I moved when my PPA doc retired with no notice to me, and then a huge hassle when I tried to make an appt once he had gone. I was never impressed with their office administration, but that experience was really bad. I would never pay more to deal with them!

I'm looking for a new practice as well. Who do you see at Johns Hopkins? How is the office, the practitioner etc.? Community Physicians always made me think it was some kind of extension of JH into underserved markets but I guess not if they have a North Bethesda office.

NP. I go there and like it, the office is nice enough and definitely doesn’t feel like “underserved market”. But I’m also the kind of person who goes for their physical every other year or so and rarely in between, so I might not be the best judge. The one time I needed to be seen urgently, I got an appointment within two hours of calling.

Nooooo! I like Dr. Cole. I got the same email and I thought maybe it was just an add-on service and now that I'm seeing they're completely dissolving, I'm really disappointed. I had built up a relationship with him and was happy to finally find a PCP I liked! darn. I guess I'll look at Johns Hopkins.

Thanks!!! I have NOT gotten ANY email. This is so helpful to see! My doc is in the One Medical group. I'm willing to pay $50 for the first year (will buy me some time to find a new doctor... I actually LIVE in Virginia/work in Maryland, so it's about time I found a new doc anyway... but nice to know I have some time to search for one...)

Glad I found this thread as well. Does anyone have recommendations for PCPs in the Hopkins Executive Blvd or Wisconsin Ave. locations, preferably female?

I had a great one. He did the same thing 2 years ago. Been doctorless every since.
