Potomac Physicians Associates

I have had the exact same experience (PCP went to SigMD, I begrudgingly signed up for One Medical) and haven’t been able to make appointments with a physician since. My employer is also dropping my current provider and moving to Cigna in January so I am going to be shopping again. So frustrating.

I am the pp just above you who is happy with JH. I have Cigna insurance, too, so you might want to look at JH in January.

I did stay with the practice for a few years.
It was an expensive mistake. Just say no to concierge services. You get nothing extra.

The practice dissolved and the doctors went either concierge or One Medical. Who was your doctor? I was a patient at PPA and my doctor went the pricey concierge route but I picked a different doctor from the practice who went to One Medical and I’ve been pretty satisfied with them. Interested to hear more about your experience with the concierge doctor.

One Medical is great but it's hard to get a dr - it's mostly PAs. I was able to get assigned to a dr because I was a patient of his at PPA. My husband waited a year before he could get a dr and my mother is with a PA which can be fine but she has very complicated health issues.

I stayed for a few years also and it was an expensive disaster. They catered to patients the first year but then complained if you wanted to use the extra svc you paid for. For some reason the office manager feels that she can also tell patients what they are allowed to do. No thanks. No more concierge services for me.

This has not been our experience at all. Was actually even able to add a family member even though they’re at capacity. Super nice. What kind of services are you asking for?

All I will say is good luck to you and your family member. The office manager is unkind but the rest of the staff is great. The doctor I had was hit or miss.

Has anyone seen Dr. Buxser w/One Medical? I’m considering switching to her after being with Rockville Internal Medicine for a few years after PPA dissolved. Don’t love RIM and I like how easy it seems to be able to make appts w/One Medical.

I would caution anyone against Bethesda Internal Medicine. Same service you get anywhere for nearly 2,000. You do not have the access you think you do.
When your doctor is on vacation you are out of luck, Dr.Andrew at least is very caustic and you are limited to reaching her on the portal which every other doctor does for free. Appts are cancelled on a dime with no explanation. Read the reviews on their page.
Best to know what you are in for before signing a year long contract.

Amen to that. Finding a non concierge doctor that cares is easy. The concierge model only benefits the doctors. Finding a competent and caring practice with great staff takes time but is worth it.
Do the work. Dr.Andrew gives a very respectful physical exam however she does not filter her comments and it makes for an uncomfortable and unpleasant situation.
I should have walked out and would not hesitate if ever faced with a similar situation.

For those looking for a non concierge doctor, I called John's Hopkins and they gave me a great list from which I chose a new one. She goes by her first name, I have her mobile number and she is very nice about getting me in if urgent. No 2,000.00 fee.
You do not have to settle for a practice that does nothing extra for a lot of money. A young doctor that cares about you as a person is a great thing.
It is hard to switch after many years but worth the trouble.

I will also add here that the practice now called Bethesda Internal Meducine Partners made me afraid to even see another doctor after my terrible experience there. It took a lot of time to feel ok again.
You can be really book smart but still not have compassion. Dr.Andrew should sit with herself and think before speaking.

Probably she has compassion but wanted to be blunt and snap you up.

Is one medical $2000 a year?

No. One Medical is $200 a year. And apparently you can claim hardship and not pay the fee.
