Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
|
There were no facts in that article and his analogies were nonsensical. Its harder to get into TJ...what on earth does that have to do with the cheating scandal?
How many kids are ineligible and specifically why? Where are the facts, Harry? |
|
While desperately trying to defend the program, he admits they are breaking the rules by allowing students who are not on the team--- ineligible students--stand on the sideline.
Against the rules and the coach should be punished for allowing. |
This is just a ranting parent blog lol. Post some real journalism. |
Funny - he was one of the leading voices against the TJ admission changes. He and Asra Nomani were allies but they are clearly on opposite sides on this Hayfield issue. |
Aren't coaches required to pass the same background checks as substitute teachers? Those take months, much longer than a football season. |
|
Hayfield is one of the most racially balanced schools in FCPS with nearly equal percentages of black, white, and Hispanic students, with a decent number of Asians and those who identify as Other.
The people who are trying to make this an issue of black students being discriminated against are ridiculous. Yes, most of the football players are black but they could be green, orange, or purple and it would be the same. It’s about fairness, good sportsmanship, and following the rules. |
Asra has moved on to Springfield, Ohio, so maybe Harry thought he could get attention by bloviating about the Hayfield situation. He and Asra both say FCPS mishandled the situation, just for different reasons. It's sad that Harry has come to define "Black excellence" as assembling a football powerhouse through very questionable practices. |
No Harry Jackson lives in Western Fairfax County. His kids wouldn’t travel an hour to attend Hayfield each way. He is saying FCPS is forcing Overton to keep quiet about the mistreatment of his program and that the kids being sidelined are in full compliance with the requirements to play. I believe what he’s saying. The racism in FCPS is disgraceful. |
No the white supremacist culture within FCPS is what’s sad. |
Those claiming racism while violating rules are disgraceful. |
The whistleblower parent is black btw. |
Nope, you have to read more carefully. He said the kids (improperly) on the sideline satisfied FCPS residency requirements. As has been explained in this thread, they did not satisfy VHSL's bona fide residency requirements. He doesn't explain that VHSL and FCPS have MUCH different rules. His whole blog post is very misleading and inflammatory. I personally think its racist to not expect black coaches and players to follow the same rules as everyone else. |
Was never interested in TJ so I don't know or care who these people are, but one is a journalist at a newspaper that has to follow journalistic standards and one is just a parent with a rant on a blog. |
If he were white you wouldn’t be pretending he’s breaking these rules he’s not. |
|
The reason why Overton has been asked not to speak - a condition of employment as opposed to a restriction on speech as the matter directly relates to his employment- is that FCPS did a shallow investigation and the VHSL immediately stepped in and questioned it. It is not about race but about protecting the administration. Implicit in his rant is that Overton is being attacked in area where blacks succeed (by the way he is an effective coach with discipline). So a school can break the rules - the 9 kids on the sideline authenticate this fact, hire a chaplain contrary to constitutional requirements for separation of church and state, and hire a team mom into a special ed position and fund raise for public school team, and all is well? I am surprised he doesn’t mention the kids. Is being manipulated to transfer for a sport where very few obtain any sort of ROI in their interest?
