Dear Leslie boosters: You’re gross. Also gross are the people complaining about Joan’s facial work—maybe because some here think Joan might come back or challenge Leslie for the bachelorette role.

Joan is local and might be reading your posts, for Pete’s sake.

Find another way to boost Leslie without trashing other women’s’ appearances.

Sorry, but I hope she does and decides to leave her poor face alone. I honestly can't believe what she's done to it. She is a very beautiful woman who for some reason has chosen to make herself far less so. I hope someone can persuade her to accept a few wrinkles and love herself in a more natural form. Because there's so much to love! I don't really care about Leslie or Theresa. Theresa seems like a nice, bland lady who would mostly be a good fit for nice, bland Gerry. Leslie is looking for a running partner, and that's not Gerry, who had to switch to walking due to age issues. They're not that far in age, but her spirit and physique seem much younger. She can find a better match.

When you put yourself on national tv shows, you do tend to open yourself up to being discussed by national audiences. That's par for the course. No one has said that Joan is a horrible person. But, our eyes tell us something is wrong with her face. If it was a congenital defect, then we would all leave it alone. But, those who have knowledge of plastic surgery have identified it as either too much face stretching (face lift) or too much botox. Those are choices she made. It is unfortunate that she made those choices. She seems like a nice person, but if she wants to be on tv longer (like Golden Bachelorette), we have a right to voice our opinion on not seeing that facial situation any more.

"I have a right to voice my opinion in the ugliest way possible about the appearance of somebody who might be reading this."

Get over yourself, beyatch.

Hyperbole much?

What has been said is that her face does not move. (that is an observable fact -- not subjective or personally derogatory).
What else has been said: the non-movable face is likely the result of plastic surgery or botox treatments. (also not a personal attack).
What else has been said: we don't want to watch a lead whose face does not move. (personal opinions that are not direct attacks on the owner of the non-moving face).

I don't see any of these things as "ugly" attacks.

It was your tone and you know it. There are ways to make these points, and you just did, that are factual. And then there’s your sneering “I don’t want to look at her” hyperbole.

They already said something wild will happen at the end so this is it.

And this is the only Bachelor that I can remember where Reality Steve did not name the winner. They probably paid him off so he wouldn't.

Apparently Joan wanted to return, and the producers agreed, but then her daughter then had a downturn. https://www.thewrap.com/the-golden-bachelor-joan-vassos-women-tell-all-interview-abc/

That doesn't mean Joan couldn't come back at the very end, though. But if that happens, will we get to see a scene where Gerry and Jesse sit down over coffee or old fashioneds and Jesse says, hey, Joan is still interested, how about it?

I know the daughter was vulnerable, but wow, I would have a hard time not resenting her for this. I mean she seemed to have the best connection with Gerry of anyone. I guess the daughter was struggling with postpartum? So strange.

You sound like a horrible parent. When your child is threatening to kill herself or hurt her child, you put the child/grandchild first and don't look back.

First of all, I'm not a parent. I'm actually a young person, around her daughter's age, and truly it would be unfathomable to me to ruin my mom's opportunity at something like this because I was feeling depressed or whatever. Many people dont even have parents theyre close to and have to find ways to get through these situations on their own. I'm not trying to be judgmental, it just seems very crazy to me. If my mom were on a show like this I would be thrilled and not ever want her to leave to come help ME. That's just how I see it.

DP / I must say your concern for your mom’s happiness is refreshing. 😄

As a mother and sister/ friend to women who have suffered severe post partum depression, I can assure you that I, and probably many mothers, would have also chosen to be there for their daughters. Post partum depression is extremely serious and common.

I'm actually not super close to my mom, as in we dont really talk. But that's the thing- there are plenty of hard life events that happen and you just have to deal with them. As someone who doesnt have the luxury of calling mom up whenever life gets rough, I just think it's crazy that her mom had to leave the reality show for what sounds like a bout of depression. I mean... maybe it's my own experience but sometimes you just have to handle stuff on your own. Mom's opportunity of a lifetime is ruined because her daughter was having a sad few weeks? I just dont get any of it.

I am sorry you and your mom don’t talk. Perhaps if you did, you might be surprised to learn how much she cares about your well being. Some parents aren’t very good at communicating but most do care a lot.

I really could not understand mothers who sacrificed attending their child’s wedding to be on a dating show especially where they only had a single digit percent chance of winning. If my children had serious mental health issues that only came to the surface during the filming of the show, I would have left to support them also. Honestly, I ann pretty sure that all my family and friends would have done so also. However old your children are, they are still your children and there are times when they need extra support.

The show was fun and it was nice to see older people seeing themselves as desirable and worthy of finding love -/ but it is just a reality dating show. The needs of family would always take priority for many of us.

I mean, to clarify, I bet I could call my mom and beg her to come to me to help me with some issue. But I wouldnt even want to, unless it was life or death. Especially not if she was experiencing a beautiful new career opportunity that had the potential to change her entire life. Of course if it was literally a matter of life or death I would totally understand why Joan had to leave the show. However, the description of what was happening was very nebulous and strange and didnt really seem to make a whole lot of sense. It was very "beating around the bush" and elusions and not really very factual. Hard to know what even happened or how serious it was or wasnt. Especially considering Joan had considered going back to the show initially and then had to backtrack again, indicating she seemed to think it was handled. Sometimes kids can sabotage parents (and vice versa) and I certainly hope it wasnt the case here.

Post party depression is a mental illness, so I would hope a mom would be vague vs outing her daughter’s psychological struggles on national TV.

PPD is also hidden and stigmatized. Society projects a very romanticized view of motherhood, so women who are blindsided by feeling sad or disconnected from their newborn may not receive the support they need. Some have gone on to harm their children or themselves.

I thought all the ladies looked amazing for their age - including Joan!

I am not a fan of cosmetic surgery/ lip fillers/ but if it makes other women feel more confident - no problem.

Women face impossible expectations and standards all the way up to senior years apparently …

Hope Gerry chooses the right person for him and the other one finds their person eventually.

Go Golden people!

+1 They're factual. I don't see anyone being cruel about it, just expressing the preference for a different choice. If you put yourself out there on national tv and social media, people will have opinions if your facial work is too obvious. It's okay to express a preference for a more natural and expressive face, if you're asking viewers to look at it for any length of time.

From such a small sample of women, the Golden Bachelor will not find a partner. Not in real life. Not for the long term. It's entertaining tv, that's all.

Keep telling yourself that. It’s too late to rein in the past cruelty, but maybe you can find it in yourself to be kinder (nobody saying you can’t be factual) going forward.

Small Sample of women? 20 women hand picked as attractive potential matches ..,

He is already on record that he chose someone, is happy with whomever he picked and they are still together …

Yeah, pp, stick with “I’m not a parent.” That means you’ve never been post-partum, you’ve clearly never experienced post-partum depression, ergo your post is total nonsense because you have no idea how you would react in that situation.

Anonymous wrote:I don't think Joan ever had any interest in Gerry. She is perfectly nice, but way too sophisticated for him, and I say that as someone who likes him. His simple Midwestern life and past managing a gym and in fast food doesn't compare to the very wealthy life she is exposed to and clearly a part of here to n the DC area and private school scene. She has figured out a way to finagle getting out of GB without seeming like a bad guy or a heartbroken reject, and still getting a lot of talk and followers.

I like her, but let's all agree she has been playing chess, not checkers.

Totally agree. This is why she left. Gerry is too basic. Joan is young beautiful and can land some rich Landon dad or similar.

I don’t understand why everyone is so invested in this entertaining show. Jerry is a grown man who has lost his wife, the same as millions of other people who have ask so, hesold his home that he bought with her on the lake and purchased another one because of the memories
which is totally understandable
he’s been dating for three or four years
he’s been on Online dating apps
the local restaurant waitress said he has been dating two women
not long term
but not short term
he will be just fine
he’s not a baby
he didn’t just ride in.
I think he has a pretty good sense of who he
is and is quite comfortable with dating,
It shows how much he has done it, its obvious
I would imagine the two ladies or three ladies that were left
or even 20 ladies that originally were there have had a far harder time of it
dating or not dating than Jerry
I do wonder why his kids would be pushing him at 73 years old to marry another woman,
unless all of his money, and his home is out of his name, and will be rightfully inherited by his children and grandchildren
and not a new wife that comes in and blindsides, which happens a lot
This is just entertainment that’s all it is
Jerry is a player you can tell by how comfortable he is completely,
and he will be totally fine
that’s not to say that the poor women will be

I do think what he did to Faith, and to Faith’s family, promising to take care of her and telling her he loves her
Was really really awful and he’s old enough to know better it was just plain wrong

I agree with that. He seems like a typical narcissistic Leo to me. Good at performing.

Someone published yet another interview on Reddit, where he said his idea of a great date was taking someone to a steakhouse in Indy in his pickup truck, then tailgating and stargazing after. He said a woman who doesn't like that kind of date is not the woman for him. Doesn't sound like Leslie, that's for sure! In discussing his holiday plans, doesn't sounds like his significant other factors in. Thanksgiving at one daughter's, Christmas at the other's. He and SO both like where they live, haven't resolved the living together issue. Sounds unlikely to last to me.

Every single one of them (except April) has nothing but the BEST things to say about Gerry and the process. Even Faith says they both still have love for each other and that she thinks the world of Gerry. They all appreciate that their experiences with Gerry (even though they didn't work out), led them to rediscover the possibility of love. He changed their outlook on what was possible. That's a pretty big gift!

April is the only one who says that Gerry didn't give her enough attention and didn't react when she was prancing around with a bunny tail on at a cocktail party, etc. She could have had enough class to say that they simply were in different worlds and there wasn't any chemistry. But, April has been giving interviews saying and implying negative things about Gerry. Everyone else thinks he was just the best. So, no -- you don't need to worry about "the poor women" not being fine. They are all fine -- except April has some axes to grind. But, she likes the drama, I'm sure you could tell that.
