Why does Meri Brown stay????

Anonymous
She is treated so badly! I just don't get it. If that were me, I wouldn't have given the divorce in the first place but if I did give a divorce, I would have taken my share (my half!!!). And, if my husband just stopped dating me, I would start dating someone else!

I just am completely miffed that in the 22st century with feminism and equal rights, she is just playing dead!

Meri seems discreet. I bet she is dating and not telling anyone.

It is so painfully obvious that Kody only loves Robin and when he says he wouldn't preach polygamy now, what he is really saying is: "I wish I was just married to Robin." It's so sad.

Are you really asking why someone in a polygamist marriage hasn't brought forth the feminist hammer and stood up for herself? It's like asking why a Duggar doesn't divorce.

I think she stays because she’ll lose Mariah (her daughter) if she leaves. Mariah very clearly and publicly denounced Meri and sided with her father after the catfish scandal. Years later, It seems like meri and mariah’s relationship is still rocky-but at least there is one. I think meri is afraid if she leaves Kody, Mariah will side with Kody and cut Meri out completely. Mariah is extremely selfish and self-righteous (an honestly an awful daughter in my opinion), but mothers love their kids-faults and all- and don’t want to lose them. Without Mariah, Meri would be left with nobody. So, she stays.

I’m not so sure I agree with the heaven theory. I think that’s why she initially married him but does that family really seem all that religious anymore? Even before Covid, they stopped going to church/conducting home church. To me, their lifestyle is more about culture than religion.

I live in Flagstaff... a side note about the show... the wives have all been in homes for year + that are relatively close together. The show always make it seem like they live so far apart, but they all live in the NW part of the city. Robin and Christine live down the street from each other, no more than 2 minutes driving, in a more rural area just outside city limits. Janelle and Meri are like .5 miles away from each other as the crow flies. Robin and Janelle are the most extreme from each other distance-wise and they are max 15 minutes apart, about 7-8 miles.

The Browns seem more dysfunctional than ever right now. They were so much better off in Vegas, but they ahead and blew up their lives and their kids' lives to move to Flagstaff. Now, they all seem more miserable than ever and none of them can agree on anything. For a plural family, they really want very little to do with each other. I was so disturbed when Christine's children were basically begging her to not move them again, but she's decided to talk to Cody about moving back to Utah anyway because that's what she wants.

Meri has one grown daughter and no real interest in any of the wives' or their younger children. Unlike any of the other wives, She is in the empty-nester stage where she can actually have some time for herself now and explore her own interests. She has no sexual relationship with Cody and he has said he is ready to wash his hands of her. She is so miserable that she just sucks all of the energy out of the room. She is probably afraid to be truly on her own because she knows nothing else, but...

Damn woman, run. Move to Utah, get a man who actually likes you, and run your bed and breakfast, or anything else you want to do.

Question for the flagstaff poster: do you ever see them around town? Are they out as a group? What do the residents think of them, if anything?

This. Or she can go back to an admin role again. Janelle and Meri were the only two wives that worked outside of the home. She can do this.

This, money and tv show. I cannot imagine she loves Cody or the women or kids.
