Why does Meri Brown stay????

I see her interacting with many of the kids in the background. I think she has relationships with many of them- especially the younger ones.

I don't understand why Janelle stays. She's the only one with any sense of the entire bunch and yet she's the one pushing the whole "we're a family" thing. Her relationship with Kody seems to be more brother/sister than anything else.

Didn’t her mother marry Kody’s dad? She has deep roots in polygamy so this all probably looks normal to her.

Maybe. I feel like I read a story that she was married (or dated) Kody's brother at one point.

I get the impression she’s more like an aunt now who sees the little kids a couple of times a month. This is very different than the way they all raised their kids when Mariah was a child.

i think he'll be getting a new wife soon. Robin gained weight. Cody is very superficial. (And for someone so superficial, he should really cut his hair.)

Kody has a new one on the side. He's trying to figure out how to keep his cash cows. Those kids make him money. Each wife makes him money. He's so gross. Why any of them married him? YUCK.

Janelle grew up LDS. She converted to Kody’s religion. Later Janelle’s mom married Kody’s dad. Meri, Christine, and Robyn grew up in polygyny.

Janelle was also married to Meri’s brother before Kody.

Right, that's it. I knew there was something about Janelle and a brother before Kody.

No, Janelle didn't have to convert to anything. She was mainstream Mormon. Kody was fundamentalist. There is no requirement for "conversion" from mainstream to fundamentalist or vice versa. Kody's brand of fundamentalism is AUB for Apostolic United Brethren.

I have enjoyed watching Kody crumble this season. The pandemic is doing a number on his mental health and the current filming is from last March or April. What kind of job does Kody have? How can these people pay for health insurance and college? I faithfully read the Reddit Sister Wives forum as well the spoof podcast called Surviving Sister Wives. I know, I need a life

If they're still legally married and she's first wife - she gets his death benefits, pension, and primary life insurance. The other wives are SOL.

No they divorced and he legally married Robyn. It was Meris idea a few years ago so Robyn (or her kids) could get insurance.

I don’t think Cody has worked since they left Utah. I think he claimed he was fired from his marketing job because of the show/his lifestyle. In reality he’s just lazy and thinks big fame is around the corner so he keeps whoring his family out.

How much do they make an episode?

Years ago I read somewhere that each wife makes $50K a show. If true, now it would be much more. That was whenthey were in Vegas.

I agree. This seems really humiliating for Meri and I wish she'd just move on. Having a job and moving away from all of this would give her some self esteem, and she could really use some self esteem.

Kody's hair. Kody in general. Both drive me crazy. Each of his wives seems smart and attractive and fun. Why any one of them married him is a mystery to me, much less all of them entering into a plural marriage with him.

I'm just glad that none of the kids seem to be choosing the plural lifestyle. I don't have moral qualms with it as such, I just have seen several poly relationships (all with one dude and two wives) in real life and none of them have lasted through the decades nor have they ended well.
