Finally! I've been so envious of other states moving more quickly.

This explains the differences between Phase 2 tiers. So glad they recognized that older adults (like me!) 55-65 need some sort of priority.

Saving a click ...

Maryland will enter Phase 2A of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan on March 23, making the vaccine open to people 60 and older.

On March 30, Phase 2B will start for all Marylanders age 16 and older with underlying medical conditions that increase the risk for severe COVID-19 illness.

On April 13, Phase 2C will start for all Marylanders age 55 and older, as well as essential workers in critical industries (construction, food services, utilities, financial services, IT and other infrastructure).

Phase 3 will start no later than April 27, when eligibility will open to every single Marylander over the age of 16.

Thank you!

It's still so unbelievably complicated. Cvs is different from MoCo HD is different from Safeway is different from a Mass Vax site. Sigh.

Maryland enters Phase 2A but that doesn't mean Maryland has vaccinations for Phase 2A.

It just means that you can start competing for vaccines now.

And then in a week, you can start competing for vaccines with people who have all sorts of health conditions for a vaccine that no one has.

It's going to be a madhouse.

Probably, but supply will be ramping up in a week and a half. Nearly 3 in 10 adults have already gotten their first shot. And the health condition thing is complicated, how do you prove it? How many people will lie? I think it makes sense, after prioritizing older people, to open it up broadly. We want it to me a "madhouse" to a certain extent. We don't want the have to struggle to fill appointments.

Vaccines in Oakland at CVS have been open for a week. No one wants them there. And appointments opened at Walmart in Lavale today (both in western md). It's not very competitive now. It's hard, but not as hard as it once was. I crossed three people off my list today.

Oakland? Like a 3-4 hour drive one way, from the DC area?

LaVale? 2+ hour drive?

I don't think these are good examples of how easy it is getting to get a vaccine.

I was able to get my wife an appointment at a CVS in suburban Baltimore yesterday. It was a 35 minute drive from Laurel and I booked it on Saturday. Round trip was about 1:45 including the wait for the vaccination and the 15 minute wait afterwards. We even did some shopping at the CVS during the trip.

And it was worth it to get in ahead of the rush coming next week.

So as a person who is 54..do I get any priority over a teenager ?

Lots of people are on some borderline. I turn 60 later this year. But am not 60 now. So I am eligible 3 weeks later than someone a couple months older. You are 2 weeks later than me.

Are the dates listed above when you can start trying to get a reservation or the date shots start going into arms?

You are still only completing with a small age group. A 54 year old is competing with 54-16. I assume it will take months to accomplish those shots.
