Unfortunately not, unless you have an underlying medical condition that puts you at high risk. But the good news is that in Maryland it is only a few weeks away. Hogan announced the following schedule today: |
It's not as easy as getting a flu shot, but it's definitely easier than it was a few weeks ago. I've made about 25 appointments this week. |
That assumes that everyone in the previous groups has been fully vaccinated and everyone in whatever the current group is can get an appt during their window. That is highly unlikely to be the case so each group will be "competing" with the remaining members of the previous groups. Chances are I won't be able to get an appointment in the 2 week window for 55+ so will also be competing in the 16+ group. |
Why not? Go to the MD vaccine hunters page and find a volunteer. They'll get you in. I have made like 50 appointments in the past few weeks. |
That's because many people in the current phases have either gotten shots or are resisting them so more are available. I can handle the process of making an appointment - I did it for my parents. It's that the numbers of eligible people will be much greater than it has been with so many more people looking for slots. I'm very glad MD is advancing the phases quickly but it's not based on being able to vaccinate everyone in each phase in the allotted 1-2 week period (nor should it be). |
It is 40 years worth of people all eligible at once. More than all the people vaccinated so far. |
It's easier than it's been in the past. The number of vaccines that are available has ramped up considerably over the last 4 weeks and there are a lot more available. All sites are getting larger quantities of vaccines. In addition, there are a lot more places that have them available. When the M&T Bank stadium site opened 3/3, they did 250 vaccines/day. After almost a week, they were doing 1000/day. On 3/12 when I went they were doing 4000/day. They were aiming for 6000/day. Six Flags in Bowie has significantly increased the number of appointments that they have open daily since mid-February. In mid-February there were only a handful of CVSes, Rite Aids and Walgreens in each area that had vaccines and staff to administer them. They have more than doubled the number of pharmacies that now have vaccines. There are probably three times as many appointments available per day as there were this time last month. Yes, it's still hard to navigate many of the web-sites and so on, but there are a ton of appointments available. If you can't figure out the web-sites and how to register for an appointment, go to the MD Vaccine Hunters vax site and ask for a helper. You provide some key information and they will help you find an appointment to fit your needs. |
I'm 53, with a chronic illness not on the list, and a healthy 18 year old will be able to get a vaccine before me. Smh. What is Hogan thinking? |
Is hypertension considered a health condition that makes one eligible for the vaccine? |
In MoCo it is for the next group who will be eligible. Not sure Maryland has specified yet, though. |
How would that work? If the 18 year old is healthy they're in the same group as you. If they've ahead of you they're not healthy. |
How would you catch covid? From your son. Vaccinate the workers aka spreaders. |
Did they release a list of the medial conditions for phase 2B? |
I have a chronic illness not on the official list. I would I'll be able to be vaccinated at the same time as a perfectly healthy 18 year old, not before. It's crazy. Slots should be opened up for those with chronic illnesses in the list, and then slowly opened up by age group as well. Not, everyone 16-60 go ahead and fight it out. |
I realized I was eligible today and got an appointment for tomorrow morning at the third place I looked. There is so much more supply now. |
