Does anyone have good prenatal-friendly online workout suggestions? I am about 12 weeks and am a runner (but have been too nauseous to run) and do HIIT style weights workouts (which are far too intense for pregnancy). The workouts don’t need to be prenatal specific, but would like a mix of cardio and weights that isn’t too intense. Subscription is ok. Thanks!!
I’ve been doing BodyFit by Amy on YouTube and really enjoying it.

I really like the Tone It Up pregnancy work outs. The SWEAT app also has a pregnancy program I think, but I haven't tried it, but used to use their app pre-pregnancy and liked it - it's a different style than TIU. TIU is a video with instructors doing the work out live, and the SWEAT workouts I did just showed you what to do with timers/a demo of each exercise, but not a video.
I also haven't tried their online workouts, but in my first pregnancy really liked the community feel of doing Fit 4 Baby workouts and I think they have virtual classes now. If you're comfortable, this spring/summer they may also have outdoors classes you could check out. |
I've heard good things about Momma Strong, and it was recommended by my midwives. I've been too lazy to actually try it yet, lol.
Nourish Move Love - its on youtube. Her workouts have been fantastic.
+1 for Nourish Move Love - especially for those who have been active before pregnancy, there are several workouts that are challenging enough to keep you interested without being impossible. She has ones that are specific to pregnancy, but all of her workouts seem "pregnancy friendly" and mindful of women's bodies.
I just use the ifit subscription that I used prior to getting pregnant and choose workouts based on my ability from day to day. I gave up running at about 6 months and do a walking series that incorporates off-treadmill cross-training. I sometimes add weights to body weight training. The trainer is Kirsty Godson I believe - you can filter by trainer. Pleasantly surprised by how challenging walking can be!
I love SWEAT but it doesn’t have pregnancy workouts (which is weird). It has a couple of different post pregnancy programs, though. I still do some of the regular workouts at 6+ months pregnant but I do have to modify so it feels a little silly at this point. They’ve also since updated SWEAT and there are videos and multiple trainers now. I accidentally subscribed to a YEAR of Baby2Body, which I hate. The app is slow and glitchy and sometimes I’ll be working out and realize I’ve been doing lunges or whatever for a long time and realize it’s been frozen. It also automatically reduces the volume of music you’re listening to so the trainers voice has to be incredibly loud for you to hear anything else. I dislike the way the trainers constantly make stupid comments like “pull your bump toward your spine” and am mortified at the idea of anyone overhearing them. Alas, now I’ve paid $130 for the privilege of this torture so I have been using it out of sheer anger. Avoid. |
Barre3. Love them so much. They are functional movement activities perfect for pregnancy. Cardio and weights but never too tough and always options to modify.

I have been using the apptiv app for workouts all pandemic and love it. They have a prenatal program that starts in week 13 of pregnancy that goes thru week 40, plus tons and tons of other workouts you could chose from (weights, barre, elliptical, yoga, etc)!
Another recommendation for BodyFit by Amy. I also really enjoyed the Fit4Baby series through Fit4Mom.
If you like Barry's, Kate L is a really good Barry's at home instructor and she is currently pregnant so she gives a lot of helpful modifications. She is a Chicago instructors but has some good east coast class times, like 730am and 6pm.
