It just suck how long the process takes.
I have to suffer and deprive myself just to lose between a half pound and pound a week. The slow pace is what I find to be the most frustrating thing. After awhile it’s hard to keep up the momentum. |
| For me, focusing on exercise made it a lot better than focusing on counting calories and weighing good. The deprivation made me hangry and miserable. True, weight loss begins in the kitchen and you still have to watch what you eat, but physical movement allows you to eat a bit more. Finding a sport I loved also helped me mentally and that was invaluable to keeping on track and looking forward to workouts and tracking progress. |

I know how you feel. My weight has yo-yo'd a lot over the years and then after pregnancy having to start all over again. It always seems like that in the beginning. May sound cliche, but I think the best way to look at it as just a part of your (new) life instead of something special or temporary. Don't look at as miserable or suffering, try to take your mind off it. Just think forward to the summer and all the cute clothes you'll be able to wear and how much more confident and great you'll feel.
Also if you are being good with your regimen, it shouldn't take too long to start seeing some results either on the scale or in the mirror. Seeing that it's working is always what keeps me going. |
Girl, same. Hitting 40 and my already crappy metabolism tanking has been incredibly demoralizing. Working on improving my attitude—also a slow process

You hit 40 already? Plenty of 50 pluses women on here have no issue being normal or underweight. |
wow that was helpful |
| Look up Eat Like a Bear. It works, even if you’re post-menopausal. |
Age isn't an excuse for a bad metabolism. Plenty of 20 somethings who are big and stay big even when fit. |
I'm so so so with you. Especially this weekend. |
Yet here you are not normal |

A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.
Something to keep in mind before you indulge. |
| I’m with you I lost 10 lbs since the new year but I have been invited to do a few (Covid safe) things in the past week and I just feel like I’ll gain 5 lbs back, so now I’m a hermit. |
| I don’t mean to add to the already depressing reality, but maintaining is so much harder than losing. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight three times in my life and eventually it’s like I just get so exhausted by the needed effort and vigilance and I slip up, and the weight comes back. I am so mad at myself for letting it happen yet again. |
Hips don’t lie so I’m good with it on my hips! |
| One of the things I most struggle with is the slow pace even when I’m really good. It makes it very hard to maintain momentum. |
