Combatting post-workout appetite

I’m back to yoga and Pilates after being in hiatus throughout the pandemic. I’m not losing any weight, I think because I’m getting ravenous after every class. I’m trying to fill up on low carb, low fat, high fiber foods, but I still feel much hungrier than usual. How do I combat this? I’ve been IF since long before IF was a thing (10+ years), so hunger hasn’t been a problem for me in years— but now I’m struggling.

You need to eat after the workout. It may seem counterintuitive, but your body needs the protein. You will not lose if you aren't eating the right way and denying your body nutrition.

Protein drinks does the trick for me. I also read sonewhere that eating high protein, low carb and sugar after workout optimizes your body for losing stored fat. Plus it’s easy, no need to prep anything.

You should eat high protein, moderate carbs after workouts. I drink a protein smoothie made with banana, berry, liquid, protein powder, greens. Carbs aren’t bad (fruits and vegetables are carbs). You need to replenish glycogen and protein. Even fats like peanut butter or milk are good for you and will help you feel satiated longer.

You can't go wrong with after workout meat. I recommend pork rinds and/or fish sticks to clear lactic acid buildup.

No. Yoga and Pilates are not a cardio or high intensity workout. OP does not need to eat after that.

OP here. Appreciate all the advice so far! To this comment— I wondered if not doing aerobic exercise was the issue. weight-bearing exercise burns calories too, right? But I think there’s an imbalance between what I’m burning and how much the exercise is stimulating my appetite. Not sure how to bring it back to balance.

Will start by trying lean protein (prob turkey bacon and egg whites), thanks to posters above!

Pilates and Yoga burn very little calories. They are great workouts for a lot of reasons, but not for calorie burn.

Fitness trackers help guide you on how much you actually burn while working out. Knowing that helps me balance out the eating.
