Yes this is nosy, no it has no effect to on me, I’m just baffled. Are they smokers? It is a cultural thing? All of their bedroom windows are cracked several inches 24/7 including times like right now when it is below freezing outside.
Are they European?
Meth house?
We like sleeping in cool spaces - and our radiator heat can not be controlled by room. Downstairs is cold and upstairs is hot.
|
Some people like it cold, especially when sleeping.
When I lived in old buildings with radiators, I found it hard to get the heat setting quite right (but I LOVED having radiators). The best way to get the temperature just right was how much to crack the window open. |
Menopause? Hope of reducing covid risks?
Radiators were meant to be used with the windows open- they were designed during a time where people appreciated the health effects of ventilation. All the more important now.
Fresh air.
Growing up, we had a wood stove in our basement for heat and it was HOT. We'd crack windows to help regulate the temperature.
OP here. Since a bunch of people have said radiators, I should mention that we live in townhouses built in 2018 with forced air.
In winter I crack open my bedroom window. My kids prefer it to be warmer inside than I do, so this gives me a decent temp while not freezing them
I like to sleep in a cold room but my young kids need a warmer room for sleeping. So, I keep the heat higher than I’d like for my kids and open a window in my room to keep my room cold.

Fresh air/ventilation while sleeping.
|
It probably has to do with Covid recs for more ventilation fresh air. Maybe they do it after a cleaner comes or something. Who care?
OP, if they've only been around for the last year, or you've only noticed in the last year, I'd say COVID-related.
