DH being super dramatic?

I accidentally locked one of our cats inside my closet this morning. (200sf closet with windows French door btw). My DH calls me at work when he got home frantic because the cat was meowing. I told him I didn’t remember where the extra key was but I’d be home in a few hrs and the worst thing that would happen is the cat would pee inside my closet. He said he was going to break the door open and I was thinking wtf?!? I got home let the cat out and thank god she didn’t pee. I’m so bewildered of why my DH went so crazy over this situation?!? Plus he’s so angry at me for taking the situation so lightly. Fyi I have a deadbolt on my closet for security reasons. I was extremely busy at work and the boss was there so I couldn’t deal with thinking about where the extra key was plus I didn’t think it was an urgent situation.

What?

to be clear, you think leaving an animal without food, water, or access to (what they have been trained to use as) bathroom is OK?

She was already fed Sherlock and was 2 hrs late for her dinner. Locked in a huge LUXURY closet and like I said the worst thing that could’ve happened is she peed in there. Fyi my cats don’t drink much water because they’re also on a luxury raw food diet I provide which contains 50% water. Google it.

Few hundred thousand worth of luxury items I want to protect .. With workers in and out I would never miss anything.

Yes, your husband over-reacted.

However from now on I would require that you give me the key to everything that's locked in the house, OK?

The cat was fine. Probably your husband was annoyed that the cat wouldn't stop meowing. That's what would bother me the most if I was home and trying to work. Apologize and forget.

NP. I was with you until this post. No need for the attitude to PP. S/he was more concerned about your cat than you were.

My guess is DH is responding to a whole lot more than just this situation. You sound as though you are this way across the board. When a cat was involved, it was probably pent up frustration.

Yes you're right about this ! The meowing was what was driving him nuts I’m sure. But he doesn’t work when he gets home and barely works at all for that matter. But our home is very large. He could’ve gone into the family room and never heard a thing .

I just think it was ridiculous to get so bent out of shape over a cat locked in a huge closet. I can see if the cat was in danger but give me a break, she was inconvenienced for a few hours or rather my DH was inconvenienced. Boohoo
