DS is in “wait pool” for Poolesville. I read the letter but don’t really understand the difference between “wait pool” and “wait list”. It also isn’t clear if there is a wait list and pool or only a pool.
Can someone explain? Thanks |
it's explained on the letter that wait pool is waiting list for criteria program while wait list is waiting list for lottery program |
Thanks. I see that now. |

Thanks! I actually checked earlier today and they weren't up yet.
In at Blair and RMIB. |

So interesting. My DS (perfect GPA, extremely high MAP R and MAP M -- always among the top if not the top at his schools) was not accepted at CAP but accepted a Blair SMAC and RMIB. He's also a good writer. We're thrilled to have two great choices, but I would have thought as a DCC boy with such high scores he would have gotten into CAP.
CAP is awesome by the way, for anyone who gets in. Highly recommend it. |
Congrats! Rejected at Blair, but DS will be fine. |
| Invited to RMIB, waitlisted at Blair |
|
Rejected Blair, invited RMIB.
Am a little surprised, expected the reverse (if any invitations at all). Straight As, MAP-M in the 280s vs MAP-R high 250s. Is a strong writer, which may have been reflected in his essay. |
Pp here- I’m surprised too. Was not expecting RMIB, thought Blair was a better fit for DCs strengths. |
CAP is the most prestigious and competitive program in the county these days. Pretty much anything at Blair is golden. |
CAP is harder to get in than SMAC. |
DC didn’t apply for CAP as strengths are math/science and engineering. Do you have a document that show many students applied and were accepted from each magnet program? |

Invited at RMIB here. I think it is funny that there are 20-25 total kids invited (we were told) and four of them already posted in this thread!
I'm actually confused by the letter though. The text below says that people will be "invited" to "lottery" programs and "selected" for "criteria-based" programs. Was RMIB a lottery? |
| I’m pretty sure the number enrolled each year at RMIB is around 100, which means even more are invited. |
